Ash's "star" Pokemon in each gym he's been in.

A previous discussion has gotten me thinking. In all of the gym battles that Ash has competed in, whereby he has won and has had the option of using multiple Pokemon (therefore pretty much discounting ALL of his Kanto gym battles, surprise surprise), which has been his "star" Pokemon...I.E., the one who won it for him?

Obviously I imagine Pikachu would have had quite a few, but I wonder if there have been others that have had a large-ish number aside him...
 
I believe the term you're looking for is "Ace".
 
Lavaridge Gym was definitely Corphish. Wow, a Water-type did good at a Fire-type gym?! WHO'DA THUNK IT?!

Pewter: Pikachu
Cerulean: Pikachu (he wasn't used in the battle, but he saved the gym and Ash won his badge because of that.)
Vermilion: Pikachu
Celadon: You could argue Charmander as it was the only of Ash's Pokémon to earn a win there.

So I've been rewatching Jouto lately and it's kind of annoying how seldom Satoshi actually uses any of the pokemon he actually caught there in the Jouto region. For a saga that was supposed to be promoting the Generation 2 games they sure did over-rely Pikachu and Lizardon.

Charizard was only used in 2 gyms though. Pikachu, Cyndaquil, and Bayleef took most of the gym focus; Pikachu was used in all 8 gyms iirc.
