Bulbapedia Assist Mode

Can I mention we're doing redundant tables in some places? If the only things that change between any mode is the levels (moves, items, pokémon, and ability all staying the same), why are we giving them tables?

I don't think we need a second full party table just to denote Alder's team goes up a whole single level in Challenge mode. It can easily be denoted in text above or below the original party table.

I think for the sake of consistency, since there are Assist/Normal/Challenge Mode teams that do change in Pokemon and moves (possibly items and Abilities too), they should be separated (especially when there is an instance of this on the same page).

I really don't think in this case we should be worried for consistency like that, given it sets a really bad example that tables should be used for every bit of information. The fact that Hugh has a whole separate article dedicated to the Challenge Mode parties when /nothing/ of his teams change except the levels (same moves, abilities, team members, items), and this aims to give him just another article just for his Assist Mode parties that will likely be the same exact information repeated except for levels...that's /seriously/ redundant (and given the size of the page, it's a waste of space, figuratively speaking).

Using Alder as the example again (because I don't get what you mean; his Tourney party doesn't change so there is no example of his party changing drastically between modes), ditching 2,000+ characters and replacing it with 50 or so seems like a hell of a trade-off when we're big talk on reducing page load-time for users.

====Sangi Town (post game)====
Assist levels: -whatever (P200*highest level)
Challenge levels: +1 (P12600)
(Normal mode table)

All the information you need for three modes, 4,000+ characters lighter. And if his party /does/ change more drastically between Assist Mode and Normal Mode, make a separate table and go:

====Sangi Town (post game)====
=====Assist Mode=====
(party table)
=====Normal+Challenge Mode=====
Challenge levels: +1 (P12600)
(Normal mode table)

The Pokemon League's parties drastically change; I'm not sure how many other Trainers this affects though (if it is only them who change moves/Pokemon, then maybe we could just limit separate templates to them). I wasn't really addressing Alder when I made my point earlier.

=====Normal+Challenge Mode=====

I really don't like this. I don't mind merging all three together that much if they are all the same except for levels, but I really don't like giving Assist Mode a separate section but merging Normal and Challenge.

I meant the tournament parties don't change any between Normal modes and the others modes, not that they don't change between whichever division you're entering (like Cheren's team changes depending if you're in the Unova tournament or World Leader/Expert tournaments) or what team(s) they use outside the PWT (like Alder's).

And you said an example "on the same page", and the only page I mentioned was Alder; I figured that was who you were referring to.

I'd like to point out we already do this for the tournament tables. As noted above, Cheren's got two separate parties for the PWT and he's in three different divisions...and two tables on his page between them.

Using a reverse example, say Assist mode doesn't change the party of Shauntal when you face her the first time, only the levels. Now we know her party does change drastically in Challenge mode, so the following:

====Pokémon Black 2 and White 2====
=====Initial battle (Normal+Assist Mode)=====
Assist levels: -whatever (P120*highest level)
(party table)
=====Initial battle (Challenge Mode)=====
(party table)

I'm just saying if one of the modes is drastically different from Normal mode, we give them a separate table and section, just like we did with the PWT sections. It's really not very different circumstances.
