Assuming wrong?

Since I started playing Pokemon Blue, I've always assumed that the more evolutions a pokemon has, the more powerful it is. Simply because of the evolution stat bonuses and such.

But, does Luvdisc have just as much potential as Kingrda?

Zangoose as Furret?

Seviper as ARBOK?!

Have I made an ass out of myself by making false assumptions? Or am I correct?

I used to do the same thing. Then GSC forced me to use two stagers and I discovered that it varies. I still only use evolving pokemon myself because I like to see them grow. Non-evolving pokemon, however, can be just as powerful, more powerful, and some are difficult to do anything with. I could say the same for some evolving pokemon as well. If I were to take your words literally, though, I don't think Furret can match Zangoose and Luvdisc is definitely no Kingdra. You will find a lot of people have different ideas of which pokemon are better. My only advice would be to see which pokemon work for you. Go with what you like, and let no one force you to use other pokemon simply because they think they are "better". As we say on the chat, even a L:100 Magikarp can defeat the E4. If you are going for competitive, though, then disregard everything I said.

Absol I believe can best a lot of evolved pokemon.

Zangoose is a crazy physical sweeper and with the right moves can kick the crap out of Furret. I'm raising one right now, and as soon as he gets crush claw, everything's screwed. =P

Actually, I'm sure Absol is pretty weak.

He's just made out to be super powerful by all his Emo Fans.

The number of times a Pokemon evolves has nothing to do with how strong it is. Sure, Kingdra can cream Luvdisc, but Lapras or Milotic work just as well, even though neither of them have evolved twice. Besides, aren't all legendaries incapable of evolution?
