If you haven't seen Astro Boy '03, go out and buy the box set, I'll wait. It used to be on KidsWB, but they stopped showing it a while back... the episode about the Blue Knight was the last one they showed, I think.
Astro Boy is about a cute robot boy named Astro who lives with his younger robot sister Zoran, and Dr. O'Shay, a human. Later on a human boy named Reno joins the family, but I'll let you watch that story yourself. Note that this is only for the '03 version. The '83 version is a little more violent, with different characters.
Filled to bursting with beautiful stories, unforgettable characters, and a gorgeous main plot (oh gosh I sould like an advertisement) this anime is truly a must-see. (And plus I'm trying to make more people fans 'cuz 99.9% of people haven't ever even HEARD of Astro Boy)

There is no way that 99.9% of people haven't heard of Astroboy. He pretty much is to anime what Godzilla is to Japanese movies. I think there is even a Hollywood movie coming out soon for Astroboy.

Actually, I believe there already has been a live-action movie made. And I agree that there is no way that 99.9% of people haven't heard of Astro boy, considering that it was made by who many have called "the father of Manga", Osamu Tezuka.

Okay, that was an exagguration......... but I can't find any Astro Boy fans.

I have definately heard of it. I believe they say the base standard for anime/manga eyes come from that.

I know Astro Boy! I wanna get into it, but I never really set the time aside to do so...

A lot of people have heard about Astro Boy, but most people haven't actually seen it. And, even fewer people actually like it. The 1960's series is currently airing on Cartoon Network at like 5:00am or something.

The 2003 series is especially good. Unfortunately, the box set released in the US is the cropped edited dub, so it's really hard to recommend it. It's cropped to fullscreen (the original show was widescreen), and the soundtrack has been replaced. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Sony's going to give this series a proper DVD release anytime soon.

I'm not sure if it still holds this record, but I remember that Astro Boy 2003 held the record for being the most expensive per-episode anime series ever. It had a $1,000,000 per episode budget, something that's pretty unheard of in Japanese animation.

I remember KidsWB aired it for like...4 weeks, and then CN took it and placed it during the day (I think during school).

1. Okay, I apologize. 99.9% of AMERICAN people aren't FANS.
2. Please stop saying the same thing over and over.
3. Have any of you actually SEEN Astro Boy?
4. I wonder if I could buy a subbed box set somewhere online......

As Dogasu said earlier, many people haven't watched it. As for myself, it's not very likely that I will, especially after being bored to death after watching a couple of episodes on Adult Swim.
