At long last... my finished Seviper pic

Alrighty then! This has got to be one of my longest-in-the-works projects so far, as I started on this thing even before I'd finished my Dustox picture... :embarass: Anyhow though, it's done now--my latest CG work of one of the most undeniably lovely and stylish pokémon to date, done as a gift for my fabulous friend ChicRocketJames (and by the way dear, I've been trying to get ahold of you but haven't seen you on lately, so hopefully you'll manage to find your way to this thing now that I've decided to post it). It's certainly not without its flaws and I think in a lot of ways it could have been better, but overall I suppose it turned out well enough:

Yeah. Comments, criticisms and all that good stuff are of course welcome... I'm sure somebody's going to point out that the grass on the hedge looks a little weird since that's something that bothers me, but oh well.

Although that poor Rattata over there must be fearing for its life! XD

It's such a lovely picture, GS. The colors, the shading, the highlights, the bg: everything is really nice.

And yes, I know what you mean about the grass, but it's not that bad.

Very nice job! I'm sure CRJ will LOVE this to death. ^_^
 
Awesome. :-) Looks like it's just noticed that Rattata and is preparing to turn around and leap for its lunch. :-p I think the grass looks fine BTW.
 
Yes, I imagined it rather like that too. Something to the effect of hearing a rustle in the grass, then "Ooh, do I spy luncheon by that tree? Let's commence with the dining!" I've watched my own snake do this a million times with his food, only he's such a lazy lump that he'll wait until the food gets close enough to him that its whiskers are tickling his nose before he strikes. Fat serpent...

Anyway though, yay people like it! It pleases me to hear it, in addition to the fact that you guys think the grass looks okay (I think what I should have done was extend the sun highlights down a bit more or something, but oh well). And really Kasumi Chan, you think he's cute?

Aww, I'm so happy. ^.^ Now if only my dearest James will find it equally worthy, which I sure as hell hope he does... *continues to watch for him with anticipation*
 
I can't even begin to describe how much I love that picture!

It's simply divine! You've captured a completely different side to the snake, a side that most people don't see. He's utterly adorable - and yet, as that nervous Rattata attests, not a Pokemon you want to turn your back on. ^_^ Just... wonderful. Absolutely wonderful. I love it to little purple pieces!

And, yes! It has garnered the coveted approval. ^.^ Really, dearest, it does please me to no end to hear that you like it, and even despite the fact that you had to wait as long as you did for it. We share the same fabulous sense of taste of course, so to know that it meets your approval means much! *takes your hand and engages in a quick tango*

So then, I'm satisfied, and the silly thing with the grass aside. I guess it's not really as big a deal as I'd originally thought.

No, it really is. Seviper looks so thrilled. "Ooooh! An appetizer!"

It's like, the picture without any black. Oh, no, I see some in the eye, but that could be dark grey, too. I'm impressed. You're getting good at that gradient shading.

Oh, and don't get too stressed about your requests if they're taking awhile. For the record, I haven't started any Miyamotos yet, but I did get an mental image today. ^^;; If I ever finish up online, I'm going to curl up with a drink and a sketchbook.
 
Simply sublime!

The shading is excellent, and the Rattata is adorable! This is a very unique pose for Seviper, the best I've seen yet. For some reason, to me it looks like Seviper is slightly scared. I dunno. I background is absolutrly superb! I love how the trees get fuzzier farther back, like fog in a forest. The grass looks fine. The way Seviper is done gives it a lot of dimension and a good perspective. Great Job!

Damn Seviper is cool... as is that picture. You've captured, as someone else put it, another side to Seviper... the side we don't see when you throw it out of her Pokeball screaming "GO AND SQUASH THAT BITCH, SEVIPER!" on Pokemon Sapphire. n.n;

Dusktox, now Seviper... is Cacnea next? You'd make me, the leader of Supporters Of Cacnea, (SOC) a very happy Shedinja. ^_^
 
Well, well, thanks so much, dears! It's so nice to hear that people like my Seviper pic (really, there's not enough fanart of the serpentine-pokémon out there, as far as I'm concerned!). I appreciate people taking the time to reply.

Pika-Zukin: Lol, the picture without any black. I'm certainly taking that as a compliment, and thanks for the props with the whole gradient shading thing, too (I *do* try, and I guess it is improving). About the art trade thing, don't stress yourself. ^^; Obviously, I haven't finished your picture yet either, though it is definitely next on my list, and followed by BJ's Jiri & plushie request. So by all means, take your sweet time!

Hitchi: Aww, thanks! ^.^ I'm so glad you like the background too, and I appreciate the thing about the trees since it took me a while to do that so that it was satisfactory to me. I thought about adding foliage coming down from above the branches, but I actually decided I wanted to keep it the way it is... the look I was going for was the kind of forest I call a "banyan forest" in my own mind (and even if it really has nothing to do with actual banyan trees...... I probably sound like I'm making no sense here now, right?).

Shedinja: You know, not a bad idea at all. Next of course I've got to do P-Z's Mawile like I said, and then BJ's pic, but afterwards who knows. Cacnea certainly *is* a cute little thing isn't it? though at the moment I think I'd be tempted to sketch it out in drag... *recalls the last contest episode with glee ^.^*
 
Wow GeneralStar, that picture is so great! I like the colours and the way Seviper looks, also the shading is quite great, I truthfully can't give any negative thoughts about your work, it is just so awsome! 10/10, I truthfully think that picture is perfect, maybe someday you should consider trying a Torchic, Im sure you would make a great one.:-D
 
Cactus Thing in drag was just one of the cutest things I've seen on Pokemon in ages. Pity James doesn't enter the contest himself... CT could stomp all over Medicham. ^_^

Don't worry about the Cacnea picture or anything. I mean, it would be cool, but it's not important. n.n
 
Very good picture, although Habunake's fangs are a little longer ^^;
