Now for the contestants! It took me a half hour to figure out what the names said. Man, I really need to finish my Japanese lessons!

Rabine is officially cool for having a Beheeyem Burst. Damn, I want to see all those bursts now, especially Bisharp and Cofagrigus. Shin's burst is Meinshao, actually. Meinfoo's japanese name is "Kojofoo".

Wow, I am utterly confused as to what that part of the survival could entail.

Well that's the stupidest name I've ever heard of....

It's a wonderfully mysterious name; who knows what it's about? xD

Anyways, awesome selection of Pokémon there; all my faves from Unova xD

Notice how all the bursts are of Unova Pokemon. So I doubt we'll see any bursts of older Pokemon, at least not now. It would be cool if this series is going to show all, or most of the Unova Pokemon as bursts, since I doubt we're ever going to see normal Pokemon much.

I'm curious what a Klang burst would be like. Maybe Gizairu will be covered mostly in metal and have the big gears on his back?

Man, I'm still surprised they didn't stick both little girls with "cute girly Pokemon".
"Ok, so the cute little girl named Pikke gets an Emonga burst. *yawn* How predictable." And then Carola gets an Emboar burst of all things. I still think her hair, clothing, sleepy face, and liking of eating fits more with Simisear blah blah blah bias baaaaww

It's been pretty obvious that they were doing Pokemon introduced in gen V since day one....

The only Pokemon not introduced in that gen that we've seen was a Pikachu and that was only a cameo.

This chapter had a lot packed into it!

- There are two prizes for winning the tournament. One is a cash prize of 1,000,000,000 yen, and the other is that whoever wins the tournament gains possession of every other participants' Burst Heart.
- The emcee (called "navigator" in this comic) is named Pauline (ポリーヌ), and she's the first character in the series to actually use a Monster Ball to call out a pokemon. In this chapter, she has her Uniran use Psycokinesis to take the Burst Heart of a guy who questions what the purpose behind this tournament is. She also spends the entire chapter riding on top of her Swan'na.
- Miruto and Yappy are taken hostage because they're not Burst Warriors. Pauline tells Ryouga that she'll return them if he happens to win the tournament.
- We actually get to see a lot of the participants' Bursts when they're falling from the aforementioned pitfall "Survival." A lot of them are small and shown at weird angles, however.
- The last page of the chapter shows a mysterious man in a mansion (?) looking at a monitor displaying the tournament's sixteen finalists. He laughs maniacally when he learns that Garyuu's son, Ryouga, has made it past the first round.

Yeah, but I was talking about the people who thought otherwise. I'm glad they're doing all Unova Pokemon, but that's my bias.

Boy, when Ryouga wins, he's going to fill up that compass so fast that it overflows! (Unless the compass is for super special bursts) Though, after the tourny, I can see him maybe giving the burst(s) back to any buddies he made during it, like Rabine. This also means that Haril and Carola might have to get new bursts by the time they reappear.

Would the next chapter be the one that will be shown online on the official Shounen Sunday site?

Who knows. We still have seven more updates to go.

I'm pretty sure Ryouga will refuse the Burst Hearts.

Besides, I just want to see if he'll ever use Rend's Burst Heart.

By the way, Weekly Shounen Sunday's taking a week off for the summer holidays, so there's no new chapter this week. The next issue will go on sale August 17th.

Anyone have pictures of the bursts? I saw some on Pokesho, some of them were really cool and creative. It was nice to see a Braviary gijinka that wasn't actually an Uncle Sam cosplay, but some of them were really bad like Garbador and Golurk. I really expected a lot from Golurk considering how human-shape it was. I liked Zorua because it was kind of creative, but stuff like Garbador, Escavalier and Tsunbear just looked like their Pokemon versions with one or two human features.

I guess the pictures shown on PokeSho's main site was during the "Falling Floor from Under You" since the bursts shown are small and at weird angles.
You can't really see Carola's, except the eyebrows and fire beard. Garbodor, Bisharp, and Beartic don't look that much changed.
Cofagrigus is creepy awesome. Move over Scream-mask guy!
The Beheeyem burst has its flared out head as a "skirt" with the head lines on it, wtf.

Dammit Rabine.

Battsu - Eh, could've done more to make it look less like an actual Golurk.

Karuta - Hey, Karuta! Shadowman.exe called! He wants his costume back!

Rurimaru - I still can't tell your gender! Nice outfit though.

Dokan - Meh..

Fraud - Meh...

Loren - Lol. I expected his beard to freeze.

Eurou - Why does that look familar?

Rush - Anakaris would also like his costume back.

Pikke - Adorable

Afron - I can't even make out that picture...

Rabine - .......Can't make it out.

Gizairu - What...is that supposed to be?...

Looks like Rush is in deep crap if he's fighting Haril. A pity since I want to see him kick ass at least once.
The fight against Ryouga and Karuta looks promising at least. Going along with typing, Rurimaru might win against the Golurk guy.
