I originally posted this on Fanfiction.net, and it got a REALLY good number of hits, so I guess here you go. Now, remember, the first chapter is kinda cheesy, but stick with me. Also, Oak is a crazy old Geezer, so pay no attention to him. On with the story!
Aura Manifestation
Most trainers who start off in Kanto usually get a charmander, squirtle, or bulbasaur. But not me. If I could, I would have chosen charmander, though. But that's not the case, now is it? I'm getting ahead of myself; let me start a bit earlier than that. Wouldn't want you to get more confused than I already am!
“Winner: Pokémon Trainer!” said the TV in the middle of the room. I had just stacked up 10 wins in a Cruel Brawl on Super Smash Bros. Brawl and was feeling better than ever.
“Now let's make that a reality!” I said as I shuffled up off my floor. I jumped into my blue-jeans and put on my usual white t-shirt and blue jacket combo. I skipped down the stairs and hugged my mom on the way out the door.
“Lookin' good Lucas!” she yelled after me, “Love ya!” I ran down the roads of Pallet Town until I found the house of the famous Professor Oak.
“Charmander, here I come!” I said to myself as I walked uphill to Oak's Lab. “I hope that last match wasn't pushing it too much. I really don't want to wait a whole year until I can start my journey.”
As I walked up to the Lab, I saw some kid wearing clothes reminiscent to mine. Except his jacket was red and he had on a baseball cap with a yellow backpack. He gave me a quick nod as he passed me, which I returned.
“I swear to god, if he took my charmander....I'd get over it. I guess Bulbasaur's not that bad. Eh, whatever is left will be fine by me.” I got to the front of the house where Professor Oak was standing outside the door.
“Are you here to claim your Pokémon and start your journey?” he asked.
“Sure am!”
“Well, then next time you should get here earlier!” he shouted.
“T-they're all taken?! NOOO!!!” I stuttered as I broke down in disbelief. “Man! I guess I'm gonna have to wait till next year,” I grumbled.
“Hmm, so you'd be willing to wait a whole year just for a Pokémon, would you?”
“Definitely. I don't care how long I have to wait; I will become a Pokémon master! You can count on it!” I said cheesely.
“Interesting, interesting. Why don't you step inside?”
“Umm, ok,” I said as we entered the Laboratory. There was a line of Bookshelves near the door, with lab assistants running around doing who knows what. I followed the old man to the back, near a computer and a strange machine that I knew held the starters that I failed to receive.
“Tell me, boy, what's your name?” he said quizzingly.
“Lucas,” I answered, “My name is Lucas.”
“Hmm, is it now? Yes, well, what do you know about Aura?”
“You mean that stuff that People on the street say they can read so they can mooch money off of people?”
“In a sense, yes. But I see we're going to have to change the way you see it.”
“The way I see it? How else am I supposed to see this 'Aura'?”
“Like me,” he said as calm and smoothly as I had ever heard a person speak.
“Aura is a lot more than just a crazy person's scam. It is what fuels us, what governs us. Aura is in every living thing, and Pokémon know it. Psychic type Pokémon can see it, and Legendary Pokémon use it as an attack. But there is one other Pokémon who can harness this energy in multiple ways. Now, if you are truly devoted to going on a Journey, then you must listen to what I say. You are about to meet this Pokémon, and you will start your journey with it. But he is the only Pokémon you can have, and you can't have any other trainers accompany you either. Is that clear?”
“Well, yeah, but, why me? Why do I have to go alone with this Pokémon? I mean, he sounds cool and all, but won't I be more likely to lose more battles with just one Pokémon?”
“Trust me; you won't need any more than this one. In the company of the right trainer, this Pokémon will be able to carry a Groudon across three mountains in one day. Yeah, no kidding,” he said while looking at my now dropped jaw. I couldn't think of anybody besides Arceus himself who could be that strong!
“There is only one trainer who may train this Pokémon, and I think it just might be you. You see Lucas; these old eyes have seen many things in my years. And I have trained them to see the very Aura of people, hoping to find the very trainer I seek. The one person with the Aura of Pure Gold. I have seen one with a similar Aura, but it turned out to just be yellow. So I gave him a Pikachu in disappointment and waited for another. I was starting to worry I would die before he got here. But Lucas my boy, I have finally found you!” he exclaimed in pure delight. This old man was really starting to creep me out.
“This...is all going a bit too fast for me. Tell me again why I can't catch anybody besides this one guy?”
“Do you want to become a Pokémon Master or not?” asked Oak.
“Of coarse I do!”
“Then you will accept your fate. Follow me, you'll be happy that you did.” he said as he walked over to the starter Pokémon capsule machine thing. He placed his hand on the red dome on the top and turned a few knobs on the base of the machine. The whole top part of the machine slid off to the side and a section of the base slid up to reveal an egg. Yes, this super-powerful Pokémon was still in its egg.
Oak looked over to me and gestured towards the egg. It was blue and black but instead of giving me some kind of hint as to who I was about to receive, they were all swirled around and mixed together. I reached inside and grabbed it with both hands. The egg started glowing white and a bright flash illuminated the room. What I saw before my eyes would change my eyes forever.
A/N I know I kinda rushed the chapter, but I was being distracted by the TV and this actually took me hours to write. But hey, I aint perfect.A/N
