Your thoughts? I mean come on! I grew up watching TV, i learned to count watching TV. Why can't we do what we want in our own homes anymore?

Just heard on the radio they want this made into a law. How this will be ploiced? And what happened to parents deciding? We did live in a free country.

...

Seriously? How on earth can they enforce this?

Don't worry it won't happen.

Whoever did that report obvious has a brain that won't develop, and not because they watched television.

I grew up on Spongebob and Pokemon(although I still love both) and they can't keep people away from that! The first T.V. show I ever saw was Jay Leno! (there were reruns!) How is none of this not helping development? It's not like school does anything for ya!

School is a building that seems more like a prison. At least television is fun.

The report itself seems to be suggesting things that are common sense.

Who exactly, other than the person that wrote the article, is suggesting that this report will push a "ban" on toddlers watching TV?

So... The men in black are just going to tell the Austrailan toddlers "no more Spongebob" and then come back in four years to turn their TV back on?

WHAT?

I guess they feel that now-a-days, the TV is raising kids as opposed to the parents or either they feel that toddlers are watching too much television.

I know when I was a toddler (ages 1-6, right?), I really didn't watch much television and I guess it's because most of what I saw came on the "big 3" on Saturday mornings and some family sitcoms in the evening or either PBS. I grew up on (during that time) stuff like the Smurfs, Reading Rainbow, The Cosby Show, Alvin & the Chipmunks, Get Along Gang, Shirttails, Peewee's Playhouse, Today's Special, Pinwheel (Yay for finally remembering where I used to watch Bill Cosby's Picture Pages, lol), etc. Even then, I still played outside a lot and didn't sit in front of the TV much. Maybe it's because of the time period. *Shrugs* Who knows.

Of course, the bottom line here is that it can't be enforced.

Pretty much. But not just that, no more Seasame Street, Teletubbies, etc WHATEVER. This country is heading the way of China and Korea. :uhoh: :thumbd:

So when do the cameras get installed to each house?

As an Australian myself, I gotta say:

FUCK THAT SHIT!!!!!

ANYONE SHOULD BE ABLE TO WATCH TELEVISION WHENEVER THEY FUCKING WANT REGARDLESS OF WHAT THEIR AGE IS!!!!!

Back in the day, I used to watch TV from the AM to the PM y'all!!!!!

Agreed. I learned to count off Seasame Street or something. I watched TV heaps when i was little and i still do. And i'm not really unealthy. I play sports and still have a decent social life. Who comes up with these ridiculous ideas?

Doesn't bother me. We all know the aussie government's a bunch of fucking pussies who can't abide the very idea of a public whose idea of fun involves playing games and utilising 21st century technology. No, they prefer the old days, when their native people were slaves and the country was a dumping ground for petty victorian thieves whi had to steal a loaf of bread to feed their starving families.

In short, aussie governments are retarded.

While I can agree with the fact that parents need to take a more active role in raising kids. And tv should not sub as a babysitter. (I do hold myself to this standard with my daughter.)

I disagree with any government action trying to enforce something as stupid as this. The government just needs to stay out of my home and let me run it as I see fit.

Yeah.......If people still have any common sense, this won't pass.
When I was a toddler I reaaly didn't watch much TV.
I mostly played with my Monster toys and alien ships while having them destroy human soldiers. It was fun. :)

Apparently, the Rudd government was just joking about the whole mandatory internet filtering thing.

Uh, no, but they have no hope of passing it through the Senate.

Yeah, no technology for us, I mean, our Government certainly isn't about to build a giant fibre-optic broadband network for the whole country.

Aborigines have never been slaves. Treated poorly yes, but not slaves.

In short, aussie governments are retarded.

Really? I was unaware.

How did you come to that conclusion?
