Auto workers launch national strike against GM

I guess the UAW was finally tired of GM's shit. They've been hemming and hawing for the past week and half. Maybe a national strike will remind the CEO's who actually makes the cars.

EDIT: The apparent issue is GM is refusing to ensure job security for their North American workers. That doesn't sound good.

GM better get their act together (both the workers and the executives) or they're just going to completely collapse.

Are they primarily concerned about job security or their retirement pension(s)? I got the impression that UAW is primarily concerned with keeping jobs at U.S. factories.

It's mainly the job security issue. Like I said, the fact GM won't give their word worries me.

The strike is over at for now. They've reach an agreement that will be voted on by union memebers this weekend. Workers will be returning work tomorrow.
