I'm not sure if this is for everyone, but on my computer and my laptop I constantly see red boxes for a majority of avatars, including my own. At first I thought this might've just been because I had gotten a new computer and my avatar was uploaded from my old one, but when I tried to upload a new avatar from my current computer, I still recieved a red "X" so, I'll try again, but anyone else having this problem/know what's going on?

EDIT: Nope, still a red "X".

It's because you're using Internet Explorer. Ever since the server change, there seems to be a problem with Internet Explorer downloading images.

Yeah, it's a picture of Ash isn't it? It's a big problem for IE users. I use it very often since I don't like using any other browsers.

Not until someone like Zhen Lin finds out what the problem is with the server, which won't be for a while. If you must have the avatars and other pictures showing, use a different browser until the problem is remedied.

You see, that's the problem I've had since the upgrade. BMGf's answer is to change your browser. Why should I? I'd say the majority of members and visitors use Internet Explorer. So, all of a sudden, we IE users don't matter? Yeah, Zhen Lin is away. Is he the only one at BMGf who can tackle this problem?

Maybe you should have an intro page whenever somebody comes to BMGf saying what browsers you support.

Well, if I knew how to switch browsers, I'd think about it...

Actually, the majority of our users do already use Firefox, at least from the last statistics I saw.

Sadly, yes. The lack of technical people in our fandom has been a massive problem right from day 1.

Not so much. Nothing should have changed with the forum when it was moved to this new server. Why it's suddenly stopped working correctly for IE is a total mystery. I know Zhen had to put in a number of adjustments on the previous server, to make it IE-compatible (since IE itself isn't properly compliant with web standards), including in particular something with how it handles .png files. Obviously with his absence, he hasn't been able to do anything like that yet.

Very well. My point was that most internet users use whatever was packaged in the PC they bought. Nearly always, that will be Internet Explorer. Most will see no reason to change. That is the reality BulbaGarden has to face.

The stats may say a majority of BMGf posters use Firefox, but do the stats say how many visitors who don't post use Firefox?

Of course, that leads to the question do they matter?

Well to be honest, I'm using Firefox and I can't see anyone's avatar at all.

Shouldn't it be the responsibility of whoever runs the new server? It's great Zhen Lin is making patches, but why should he? Is not BMGf a customer? I know it's a cliche, but the customer is always right.

The assumption is that you're using plain vanilla code for your site. If you're using custom code, all bets are off.

It would likely have been some sort of custom code that was implemented, yes. Even if it was plain vanilla code though, it would've been something which doesn't come with the server by default, in which case, we would've done that up ourselves, to save insane service charges for simple installation.

Hmmm... the last statistics I saw said that IE is still the most-used browser. But, Firefox is a very close second, and is catching up very quickly.

I'm not a big fan of IE myself, and I KNOW it's nowhere near as secure as Firefox, simply because all the spammalicious adwunderkind and such has been geared toward IE for a long time.

If IE is your preference, then so be it... but optimizing a Web site to work well with both is probably difficult at best (just a guess on my part).
