Not exactly your typical anime, but oh well. I for one liked it a lot, being almost finished with it and all.

So yeah, you can talk about the anime right here.

I'm permanently almost finished with it, cant bear to see it end, although I did go to see the last episode eventually.
I have the last episodes on manga...

I really like this episode and then sometimes I criticize it for not being more like Lucky Star. I couldn't really relate to it and I found I could relate to Lucky Star better. However, Azumanga is a pretty good anime. I like how the art style is so different and the choice of the facial exaggerations like the white eyes they get when they're shocked. Boy have I adapted that into my style.

My favorite characters are Osaka, Tomo and... Kaorin. I like Osaka because I'm like her in a way, noticing random things. I like Tomo because she's cute and reminds me of a shounen protagonist in a way. I like Kaorin because we're both girl-liking girls.

I found the fashion in this series very odd. Some of it looked current to the time the manga was done and some of it just looked random and weird.

I think a lot of the facial exaggerations done in Azumanga Daioh inspired the ones used in current anime... So I think as I said.

And I rather like that's it's nothing like Lucky Star. AzuDaioh focuses on general random humor, Lucky Star focuses on anime OCD humor.

Azumanga Daioh relies on a lot of visual jokes (i.e. watching characters in the background as they shy away during a conversation, or other things like that). It relies on some timed jokes as well... it's a very intelligent anime if you pay close attention. Lucky Star... I don't feel is. That's just my feeling though. I could never get into LS, no matter how hard I tried. It was just boring. If I want a show that parodies a lot of anime and anime styles, I'll watch Excel Saga.

But anyway, Azumanga is a classic series, I have seen so many people give it a chance and totally get drawn into it over the years. I have a feeling that it's going to be one of those series that people still remember and talk about (in the US at least) for the next 20 years or more. It really contributed a lot to current anime I think.

I have to thank sato for this though. WIthout him, I never would have known about it.

I love opening sequence, it is absolutely the cutest thing I have ever seen.

I also love Ms Yukari(for her wacky teaching skills and her self-insertion into everything the girls do), Tomo(She's just odd and whacky, but she became a bit of a bitch in later episodes)

yomi(That's probably my femal counterpart), Sakaki(so quiet and her love of cats is cute), Kimura(He is soooo ranom an perverted) and Kagura(I just like the way she looks, she looks real pretty with Sakaki too.)

I love the animation and their expressions sometimes, and the episodes are funny. Unlike a certain Lucky Star in which I couldn't even get past the first episode for bordom.

I just hate how it ended soooo soon though, I like to see them after college and everything. I cried a bit at the end with Yomi too.

I'm going to remember this series very well. heh

My only series complaint in the length - the last few episodes felt rushed, especially with suddenly attempting to add Kagura and lesbian girl to the main cast within the last arc.

I think karoein(or lesbian girl) was already in the main cast for some time. I agree with you about Kagura, I wish we've seen a bit more of her.

I've got all of the Azumanga Daioh manga, but have not seen the anime. My only complaint is that I want it to be longer.

Kaorin was there from the start. She's just in a minor role though. (she was one of the first few who "Got pwned by a 10 year old ;-;")

It's interesting though that people consider Kagura in the opening a spoiler though. Anime introduce future characters in the opening all the time...

She did not go on the summer trip until the last one, which I believe to be the defining episodes of Chiyo's entourage.

I thought Azumanga Daioh was an excellent anime. It's very humorous and the characters are enjoyable. I especially loved Osaka because she acted so random by asking the most random questions and saying the most random things. One of my favorite scenes was when Osaka wanted to wake up Yukari-sensei with a frying pan but ended up bringing up a knife which freaked Yukari-sensei like crazy. Seriously, i just loved that scene.

The manga was cute and I loved the art style in it, especially how Sakaki is drawn in it.

The anime, which I'm more familiar with as I have it all on DVD from the first to the last compiled "episode", I absolutely adore.
The last episode brings me to tears, especially the bowing scene.

Anyway, it really reminds me a lot of school, the funny hijinks the girls get into, and I'm a bit like Ayumu/Osaka, especially at school, laidback, but very weird and random.

And the art style is gorgeous~! And hilarious when they go into chibi. xD

I'm going to admit, I absolutely adore this series. I like practically all the characters. Especially Osaka, infact, Sabrina the Kirlia from my fanfic was partially based on her. Perhaps I should write a story about her again, but I better not go into the Ceberus effect again (That's what killed Sabrina's Story the first time around.)

As for comparing it to Lucky Star, I love both of them actually, because each of the characters from each anime is different enough, plus I love the music for both as well.

She complains about Yukari at the pool in the first summer episode (if we're talking about Kagura).

Kaorin was invited to the first summer trip, and couldn't go because of "astronomy camp." I wonder what you stick in at astronomy camp? I think that was the episode where she couldn't go somewhere because of camp...

Kaorin was introduced in the first episode or so, but her appearence got less and less prominent as the series went on. By the third year she wasn't even in Miss Yukari's homeroom class, but Mr.Kimura's (Who I find absolutely hilarious).

As for a character that barely did anything, it would probably be Chihrio. She only seemed to have existed to be a companion for Kaorin.

Yeah, Chihiro really only spoke in the first episode if I remember.

No, If I remember, she was supposed to Kaorin's partner for the 3-legged race, but she injured her leg at one point, so Kaorin had to find a new partner. Sakaki volenteered which made Kaorin really happy so when Chihiro came back saying that she was able to do the 3-legged race, Kaorin became angry at her.

Then she screamed when that cockroach appeared in the class that other time...

Other then that, she wasn't really that notable in the anime.

Is there a movie? There should be. AzuDai is the high school experience I'll never have.
