Re: This is why Emerald really ticks me off!

You have 2 pokemon that have a double weakness to electric and no real resistance to electric apart from Grovle who can't do anything to his annoying magnets.

Try using Aron with Mud Slap, if possible get a better ground move. Watch out for Manget Pull though. Maybe use a temporary pokemon to help, and levelling a bit more will help.

Re: This is why Emerald really ticks me off!

Yeah that's why I wish I could use rocksmash before i got his badge so I could get a frigin Numel but I might have to grab a temp Geodude.

Re: This is why Emerald really ticks me off!

Or you could level grind. Part of the fun of it is that its so hard

Re: This is why Emerald really ticks me off!

How come everyone hates Hoenn so much ._.

Re: This is why Emerald really ticks me off!

The water routes aren't THAT bad.. hey, at least you don't have the DP speed for surfing in Hoenn. Be thankful for that. -_-

Re: This is why Emerald really ticks me off!

Yeah thank god Platinum sped up the water speed.

Re: This is why Emerald really ticks me off!

ZOMG!!! Water routes!!! It's not that bad that there are a lot of water routes, I think sinnih doesn't have enough

Because it makes you backtrack. A lot. Or take ridiculously long detours. Many of the water routes are extremely complicated to navigate, especially the ones with Dive spots. I don't know about you, but I dislike surfing for a good minute with no landmarks but the occasional dark patch of water.

I agree, and if you don't remember to bring repels with you at all times, you get attacked by 931581 Tentacools and Wingulls (and never anything else, aka anything worthwhile) which is very annoying when you already can't figure out what you're doing.

However, I started my Emerald game over for the second time because I felt like I didn't really give it a chance to first time (I hated it and it felt like such a grind). Maybe it was just easier the second time around because I knew what to expect, but I enjoyed it a lot more.

Still though, I think the legendaries are the most annoying to get in this game, which is why I still haven't caught most of them the second time around. How many people really would have figured out how to get the Regis themselves without ANY outside help?

Tell me a Pokémon Generation that's not the first that gives you any freedom on how you advance through it.

Pokémon's always been linear. It's become even more so as time went on, even. Frankly, RSE didn't feel any different than GSC. It's simply that GSC was more straightforward, and shorter because the duds had to include Kanto. A mistake, but what can you do? :/

Not many, if at all. Why bother when the Internet exists? However, fact stands that you could have reached the spot by mere chance. The Sealed Chamber contains the Braille alphabet. Once you saw it's Braille, you could've looked for a Braille booklet somewhere and read the writing, or sort out the alphabet given to you in-game by yourself. This is more time-consuming, and you need to backtrack a lot (You'd have to go for a Dig Pokémon after reading the first bit, and then go get Wailord and Relicanth after reading the second), but it could have been done still. It's just that no one, neither kids nor older fans like us, are up to do such a seemingly complex research and unveiling by ourselves. In any case, the Beasts in GSC are in the same league anyway. Yes, you see them run away, and you might assume that you'll come across them eventually. But what if you don't? What'd you think if you had never read anything about the wandering Beasts in the Internet and never came across them after making them run from the Brass Tower? The very exact same. That it's impossible to get them without any outside help. In fact, the same goes for the Legendary Birds. Only Moltres is findable through your journey (And only in RBY). Articuno is in an skippable area, and Zapdos is in an optional area. FRLG Moltres is also in an area you don't have to go too deep into. Unlike the Beasts and the Regis, which actually give you at least a few mythos regarding them somewhere in the game, the Birds only have subtle mentions. Nothing else. Of course, if you're a typical gamer and go look everywhere, you'll get to them. The same goes for the Regis. It just involves a much deeper research. So yes, it's possible, but it's too tedious and the Internet exists, so why bother?

Now for the thread... wow. I always thought challenge in a Pokémon game is hard to come by and always to be enjoyed and take the best out of it. Guess I was the only one that learned how to play this game properly after Whitney defeated me so easily several times, managed to find Evice's and Greevil's Achiles Heel after being constantly pummelled by them, and delved into Double Battles thanks to Emerald Tate & Liza and their supreme combination. Then again, I shouldn't take it that everyone takes challenge in a videogame the same way I do...

Anyway, go with Geodude. He'll own Wattson easily.

Re: This is why Emerald really ticks me off!

I'm with the Hoenn haters. I've always disliked that region.

Re: This is why Emerald really ticks me off!

I dont really hates Hoenn, because the first pokemon game that I played was Sapphire.

Re: This is why Emerald really ticks me off!

Because there's so many water routes =]

That's why I used to hate Hoenn! Managing to beat the Elite Four easily in Emerald soothed my spirits, though I'm still annoyed at the lack of things to do post-game.

When facing Wattson without a Marshtomp on the team, I always grab a temp Geodude. Smashes 'em magnets flat and doubles as a Rock Smasher till you get a Tropius.

Re: This is why Emerald really ticks me off!

Hoenn is my least favourite reigon.. just because of those water routes..

Me. I translated the braille myself. The man in pacifidlog was pretty obvious with the "six dots open three doors" and then it was a matter of translation. I didn't even look on the internet since my dictionary had a braille alphabet on it.

The moment someone is actually given a challenge, they start to complain on how hard it is. The difficulty with how the Regis were obtained makes sense considering how the ancient Pokemon people feared the it. They'd obviously seal them away properly. I don't know, maybe people just don't like to be challenged any more. I mean one of the few challenges given to us and people start pissing their pants all over it.

Its no more difficult than unlocking Ho-Oh in Crystal, and I managed to figure out how to do that aswell from mere observation in the game, though I never caught the beasts myself, I advised my friend to do it.

ANd backtracking? So what, what's bad about going back to a place you've already been? Your telling me that none of you do this anyway when you get fly?

Re: This is why Emerald really ticks me off!

I wasn't complaining about the legendaries I was complaining about how you can't beat the freaking 3rd gym leader if you start out with Grovyle!

I did the same as you, accept i had to read up on braille before hand.

Re: This is why Emerald really ticks me off!

Oh yeah, and also the fact that there were three formations with ruin maniacs infront of them, pretty obviosu something was there.
