Well. I haven't seen any threads about this, so I decided to post it here.

You know how if you look at your trainer info and press the button on the bottom of the touch screen you can see your badges? Well, if you clean them up to sparkliness and touch them with your stylus they all make a different note of 'ping'.

"What's the point?" you ask?

WELL, you can play songs! I know, I know, amazing.

So far I've figured out how to play two songs all by myself. Here they are, with the numbers referring to each badge left to right, top to bottom:

Mary Had a Little Lamb

You can also rub while you tap to create nasty remixes. Keep in mind, all the badges must shine with the same amount of stars (two - four), as the notes go higher with the more stars that sparkle. If anybody more musically inclined than I (which I doubt--I played the french horn for a year [beat that]) figures out other songs, post them here. Huzzah!
 
I did something similar in R/S in my secret base, playing the theme to Metal Gear Solid 2. I've tried to recreate it, but unfortunately it requires going higher than the badges allow.
 
Its amazing what boredom can do for you :D, interesting nonetheless.

:O I remember those. I could never give up all my fancy decorations for the amount of mats it took to play the chorus to "This is Halloween". But I tried and that's all that matters.

Blast. I'm confronted with my own hypocritical conscious. I'm anti-hack/cloning...ugh. I did get hacked event legendaries from a friend though, for the Pokedex data...I guess it's not that bad when it's not me doing it. I'll pretend like I didn't read the last part of that sentence...:] ...I just won't be able to brag about it like with my Pokeradar shinies. I don't know if we're allowed to talk about this here, as it's not a trade coordination thread, but whatever. :p

Oh and thank you, if there's anything I can do for you, let me know. :D

I was actually fooling around with the dull-shiny range and managed to play a bit of Fur Elise, a couple zelda songs and the barber of seville =P (although due to 8 notes not to much of it) Fun stuff =)
 
Oh... OH.

So that's why the badges get darker! It's supposed to simulate tarnish. I can't believe I didn't realize that. I'll have to clean mine up and compose a concierto sometime.

Yay, sparkly. XD That was worrying me.

What I really hate are those annoying sounds that sound a bit like a barking dog. Ugh. x.o

Note: All badges used must be of the same shinyness.

For extra coolness, grab a few buddies and play simultaneously, having one play:

4-4-3-4-4-3-4-4-3-2-3-4

another play:

2-2-1-2-2-1-2-2-1-(4)-1-2

and a third play (basically as fast as you can using this method, a.k.a sixteenth notes)

2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2..etc.

Also note that I have not been able to figure out how to arrange the levels of shinyness so that there can be semitones where there normally wouldn't be, meaning anything but the intervals of 3 to 4 and 7 to 8, so if anyone has discovered that let me know because it would open the doors for countless other songs.

Finally note that, although bored, I only spent three minutes maximum figuring and writing this, so don't think I have an excess of free time or I'm crazy or something.

Okay this one takes some talent with the stylus.

Here is the base line:

6-3-5-6-5-3-2-3 and repeat.

Now again, grab a buddy and have him/her play:

6-7-8-7 and repeat.

Now I haven't gotten far on the melody but it starts like this:

3-3-3-3-2-1-2-3-3-2-1-2-3-3

Note that the first note of the base should be an octave lower, and that I might finish this song if I remember to, and also if you have trouble with the rhythm try listening to the song and see if that helps.

Also note that the moonwalk should not be attempted while playing this on your DS.

Piano Man - Billy Joel

I'll start with the chorus as it is basically the same as the verses.

5-5-5-5-4-3-4-3-1-1-1-1-1-2-2-3-4-5-5-5-5-4-3-4-3-1-1-1-3-4-4-3-1-1

If you want to be cool grab a buddy and have them play:

Linus and Lucy - Vince Guaraldi

I'll only go up to my favourite part, but you can just repeat the opening. As well in the base line, there is a change from 1 to what would be 3flat and then that part is repeated once, but I haven't been able to figure it out with the lack of notes.

Bass line:

1-5-8-1-5-8-1-5-6-1-5-6 and repeat

Melody:

{1-2-3-3-2-1-2-1-1-2-3-3
1-2-3-3-2-1-2-1-1-2-2} and repeat that whole thing
{1/1-4/4-4/4-4/4-5/5-5/5-6/8-6/8-5/5-6/8-6/8-5/5-6/8-6/8-5/5} x 3

Note that in the last line there the / indicates what the bass player should play instead of the repeated line I wrote above. So 6/8 means you play 6, and the bass person plays 8. And if you are not familiar with this song become familiar, because it's excellent.

I'll post more when I get around to figuring them out and again I am sorry for the double post.

I can't wait to show my sister these. I can only wonder what she would
come up with as she has a knack for pulling themes out of air and translating
them to the piano. I was never musically inclined, but I did notice how
their was a particular do-re-mi scale to the badge pings and that was all.

With this info in my sister's hands, I think she'll go crazy with this.

I'll be sure to try out some of your duets BP08!
 
You know, I tried some the songs posted by Bp08. ...I just don't hear it with some of them. :( You must have amazing rhythm and speed with this stylus to get it just right...which I guess I lack.

I was watching South Park and saw Towely make a tune on an automated lock (pressing numbers) so I tried it with my badges. I did it, unfortunately I forgot the song, and which badges to press.

Does anyone know what key the badges are in when you shine them all the way?
I know the badges play a major scale when you go up 1 through 8. Which major scale is it?
