I'm a die-hard fan of the Batman and I'm getting it, is it good? ( I'M GETTING SO WHEN SEQUAL COMES IT MAKES SENSE )

I haven't played it, but my friends did and absolutely loved it. Plus it got tons of critical acclaim and stuff. From what I gather, it's like a stealth game with Batman themes, though I could be wrong.

Ugh. Yes, it was "good." However, I'm reluctant to call it "great." I know, I know, it sounds blasphemous. I did enjoy Arkham Asylum, but I also have a few problems with it.

Normally, I don't care all that much about storytelling in video games; while I appreciate a good story, the focus should be on gameplay. However, in AA, I simply could not get over some of the story elements. The main problem is that they make it into a Metroidvania; while I love that style of gameplay, it doesn't make any sense when applied to Batman. This guy is the definition of crazy prepared, who could beat Dr. Doom if he had enough time to get ready... and he just leaves stuff lying around? OK, not lying around, but (gameplay spoilers, not story spoilers):
He leaves the Batclaw hidden on the island, and the upgraded Batclaw in the same place--but when he goes there the first time, he only gets the Batclaw, and doesn't upgrade it until his second trip. Plus, at one point, he actually has the Batwing fly in and air-drop him a zipline gun. Why?! If you had a plane carrying a zipline gun, why didn't you get it at the beginning of the game when things started to go wrong?!
You can't even say he left that all behind because it was too cumbersome, since he's perfectly able to walk around with all his stuff at the end of the game.

The other thing that bothers me has to do with the story itself, or rather the writing. Joker's plan is pretty cool, but parts of it don't make sense (story spoilers):
The scene where he gets Batman to take the dart instead of Gordon at the end is pretty cool, yeah, but after that, he injects himself to turn into a monster? I'll admit, I don't read a lot of comics, but that seems very un-Joker like to me. Plus, at various points in the game, when you need to do stealth missions, he seems to genuinely want Batman killed. Isn't his main goal just to mess with Batman's head, not to actually kill him?

I'll admit to not being very knowledgeable about the Joker's character outside of movies and such, but this sort of thing just bothers me. Still, GrnMarvl13 will probably correct me. At any rate, my first point still stands.

TLDR: Yeah, play it, but know that parts of the story were sacrificed for the sake of gameplay. While I normally don't have a problem with that, it doesn't really work with something like Batman.

I'm getting it for sure then, I've heard about Poison Ivy, whats the hype?

I never had a problem with that. It makes sense that he wouldn't bring in the big guns right off the bat. He's want to keep stuff in reserve until he absolutely needed it (not about being cumbersome, but about prioritizing). Keep in mind, he doesn't hesitate to call it in when it becomes necessary.

And hoarding stuff on the island makes sense for JUST such occasions. But he wouldn't want to keep TOO much stuff there in case it was discovered.

He's Joker. He's out to kill everyone. And what he did to himself at the end was part of wanting to mess with Batman (he was, essentially, combining two of Batman's greatest enemies). And, keep in mind, that final battle features Joker sitting around quite a bit and letting others act. That's what he does.

Honestly, I loved it. I think it's one of the best games I've played for the PS3, and easily the best Batman game ever. You do things that feel like what Batman would do. You get the gadgets, you get to fight a good chunk of his Rogue's Gallery (in, largely, very cool battles. Killer Croc's especially), and while I'd agree the story isn't perfect...it's one of those games where it doesn't HAVE to be. If the gameplay was lacking at all, then it would be a bigger issue, but it worked fine for me.

It is probably my favourite game for the XBox. The gameplay is good. The story is brilliant (although there are issues)! And I idn it hard to find a proper, glaring fault that would make you stop playing. I've played it through 4 times and had loads of fun with the extra missions and I think it's a fantastic game and anyone who hasn't played it has missed out.

Also, Poison Ivy is just spectacularly badass in the game. She's also half-naked, if that piques your interest.

I guess I'm coming at this from too much of a gamer's perspective, now that you mention it. My problem was that Batman passes by hundreds of obstacles his gadgets could get him past, but doesn't actually get those gadgets until later on. Still, Batman's priority isn't exploration and solving riddles, but stopping the badguy; where I would want to know what's on the other side of that gap, Batman wouldn't care unless the gap was actually in his way. So... I guess that makes sense. I still call shenanigans on the triple batclaw, though.

He's Joker. He's out to kill everyone.

Eh. Sounds like it's time I ponied up the cash for The Killing Joke.

One more thing I want to say: I hope the sequel maintains the T rating. I try to avoid M rated games when I can, and while I'll make exceptions (I'm anxious to play The Longest Journey, for example), I'd rather not encourage designers to put huge amounts of blood and gore in their games. I know it's unlikely they'd turn Batman into God of War, but still.

Er, nah about Ivy + Are there any good price's about?
