Catching me COMPLETELY unaware, Batman: Brave and the Bold debuted last night. Featuring a short Green Arrow team-up followed by a full episode team-up with the current Blue Beetle.

I have to say...I really like this show. It's set up in such a way that continuity doesn't matter, doesn't feature a super-serious Batman (which I've gotten so sick of over the years), and it's just plain fun. Plus it had Green Arrow. And Blue Beetle. Only way for that to be topped, for me, is Booster Gold and Green Lantern. Which, I'm sure, will come eventually.

I thought for sure Batman was being played by Patrick Warburton, but he wasn't (it's that guy from the Drew Carey show whose name I can never remember).

Was Blue Beetle played by Will Friedel? Because he sounded exactly like Ron Stoppable.

Diedrich Bader is Batman. And, if IMDB is to be believed (as it usually is), Will Friedel was Blue Beetle.

The voices are great on this. Bader really pulls off a great cocky/veteran Batman.

judging by the commertials this has to be bad I mean cmon since when does batman say "theres nothing up my sleave" batman dosent make jokes like that they are proboly trying to compeate with the spectacular spider-man but thats just my opinion

If that was the case, this would be a new "regular" Batman series like The Batman or TAS. This is totally different. It's a series of one-shot team-ups.

I liked it too, kinda. It's one of those shows you're not supposed to think too much about, just sit back and enjoy.

GrnMarv, your wish just might come true, since GL was mentioned by name early in the episode.

It reminded me more of the attitude of the Adam West series but with a more realistic tone. Batman being more upbeat and willing to help, but still with the necessary grit...if they're putting him with the Justice League he has to be a team player.

Exactly. Those two series were more like the comic. Telling his adventures over a long period of time. This is more like random snapshots.

Which is why I love it. It's NOT some new attempt at putting Batman in a cartoon series, or some attempt at animating the Dark Knight Batman. It's just goofy, campy Batman. He's still doing the things that make him fun (fighting crime, showing off his endless list of gadgets), but this time...you don't have to worry about where his actions will lead. I'm sure if it lasts long enough, we'll see villains return and have some semblance of continuity, but even then...it won't really matter. You KNOW Batman and whoever he's teaming up with will win. So you never have to worry about anything more than what's happening. There are no undertones. No secrets. No big, deep plots. Just...fun and action.

Yeah, but I'm hoping for Green Lantern and Booster Gold in the same episode. Or at least like how Green Arrow and Blue Beetle were in the "same" episode.

With this series, he seems to be either playing the gritty veteran or it's more of a buddy thing. Two heroes who've done this a thousand times and are making it look easy. But, again, I like that this series isn't deep. It's just fun. Not full of bad jokes and puns like most cartoons today. It's just action and random banter. Like what made Superfriends fun. Minus the Wonder Twins.

I saw the show when it aired on Friday. Batman isn't overly dark, more like a seasoned veteran. I like the first episode. Not great, but not bad either. Also, anyone seen this series Batmobile. It's shown in the theme song for like 3 seconds, but it looks like a cool update of the classic 1966 Batmobile from what it looked like.

Yeah. The entire opening credits reminded me of the 60s Batman series. Helped get me in the mood for the show itself and played up the campy feel.

Batman teaming up with Plastic Man and Fire. Batman as ape. Gorilla Grodd as human. And...KITE MAN. Wasn't as good as last week's episode, but it was still pretty good.

This definitely looks like a promising series. Hopefully, they'll go through the entire DC universe of heroes and villains. And if this episode and the last are any indication, it should be a fun ride.

It seems like they're really choosing the best and the worst of the DC Universe...which I like. Really looking forward to Kamandi.

When the psionic helemet is neutralized by Batman's techinque from Tibet, I thought that was awesome.

Doesn't anyone less love how so many lesser known Batman villains are showing up on this show. We are two episodes in and we've had apperances by Clock King, Gentleman Ghost, and most shocking of all, KITE MAN (in flashback form). Makes you wonder who'll show up next: Signalman. . . The Cavalier, maybe?

Check the Wiki page. There's a list of villains and heroes that are appearing.

This week's episode was "Evil Under the Sea!", the Batman/Aquaman teamup episode.

-Opening intro: Batman and the Atom battle Felix Faust.

-Batman heads to Atlantis to investigate strange underwater earthquakes.

-The Batplane turns into the Batsub (very 1950's).

-Aquaman seems to be a bit cocky (not in the arrogance sense more like overconfident).

-Ocean Master's costume is designed with actual fish from the sea.

-Black Manta betrays Ocean Master and was the one who is creating the earthquakes becasue he wants to destroy Atlantis.

-Ocean Master helps Aquaman and Batman stop Black Manta.

-Ocean Master goes to jail and is force to listen to Aquaman's life story.

Overall, another fun episode. I was hoping this one would be a little bit better, but what can you do. I like Batman/Plastic Man the best of the three episodes, so far. I was surprised by Aquaman's cockiness, but it worked for the episode.

I have to say, I really liked how this episode started. The cocky Aquaman and Fluke, the World's Most Annoying Dolphin. But...it sort of just devolved into generic Aquaman-type stuff. Besides, ever since Super-Friends, I just can't take Black Manta seriously.
