According to Serebii.net's Oha Suta Reveal post the battle commands that were available were the usual Fight!, Pokemon, Run, and the unusual "Shooter". Now, this is unusual for some obvious reasons: there's no mention of the "Item" command and no explanation of "Shooter". When you hear the word "Shoot" the first thing that comes to my mind is shooting a gun (I've actually seen some fanart of Black and White holding a sniper rifle and SMGs respectively 8P). Of course, I can't imagine why guns or anything of the like would be in a Pokemon game (Unless it was a Water Gun or an Octazooka ;P). So, I'm looking for some speculation.

I don't think Item could EVER be removed from Pokemon, that's just be insane and I can't imagine that ever being taken away. Personally, here's my idea. I think "Shooter" might be meant to be taken as "Shoot" and what do you shoot besides a gun? A camera! I think "Shooter/Shoot" might be a way to take pictures during battle for some reason or another. As a keepsake of memorable battles or as some new gameplay feature (maybe like how the camera in Dead Rising works?). So, I think "Shooter/Shoot" is maybe an auxiliary command that simply takes "Item's" place when selected.

Thoughts?

(P.S. If this isn't in the proper section, I'm sorry. I wasn't sure where to post this if it wasn't deserving of it's own topic. If you wish to move it please do.)

considering that it's a wifi battle, it's probably a camera or something.

Maybe it really is a gun, but it could work like fling where you can toss an item to or at a pokemon, like maybe it can shoot a potion to a pokemon of yours, or a hindering item at your foes. Then in wild battle you can shoot at the pokeballs at them, if they miss, then you lose one.
Does that sound plausible to you guys?

That's all for now.

It's a wifi battle. You can't use items in a wifi battle.

Well, then there's 3 possibilities as i see it:
1. That it's wi-fi exclusive, and you use it for the believed picture taking.
2. It does what no one expects atm, and everyone is wrong.
3. The theory I had where it could be global, it would make sense, and just because the battle is wi-fi in the shot doesn't mean it can't be used elsewhere...

The official Japanese site has another screenshot that shows "Bag" instead of "Shooter" during an in-game battle. So whatever it is, it's a Wi-Fi exclusive.

Maybe you actually get a gun later in the game and you can fire and K.O a Pokemon in battle and theres a 50% chance of K.Oing the Pokemon but there's a 50% chance of missing. What do you think?

Maybe it's a tranquilizer for wild Pokemon to make them easier to capture? Its a wild guess, but...

It's obviously a tranquilizer gun. You are a teenager. You just shoot your opponents Pokemon and the end. Whoever shoots first or shoots the best KOs the mon.

But, seriously, it sounds like a camera.

Maybe you can take pictures or video of the battle?

Uhhh...

Ah, I remember the days when there weren't angry parents and priests scaring people into thinking pokemon was evil.

Oh, and because I am required to...

anime =/= games.

Yeah, anime =/= games.

I guess that the "Shoot" command will work like the commemoritive photos in HGSS, hopefully stored in the VS Recorder of the 5th Gen. and with enough space for quite of few of them (I was always disappointed with the 6 measly pages on your PC in HGSS). =P

1. This is gen 5 not gen 4 there may be an option to allow the use of items in wi-fi battles.

2. It may just be the icon and when selected during a wifi match it will simply say you can't use it then.

3. They already have the battle recorder so taking pictures in battle seems like a step or 2 backwards.

4. Using "shooter" instead of photo, camera, record, etc seems a little bizarre. Using "Shooter", the noun, instead of "Shoot", the verb, seems weird as well, but that may just be a translation issue. I don't pretend to understand japanese. It could also be a corny term for a new devise. This doesn't seem likely though, because those usually have "Poke" in the name.

I doubt it will be a camera function, but an item replacement is a little iffy too. I expect to be surprised.
