Battle Frontier, Orange Islands DVDs to get Region 1 release: As usual, only English dub included

The Right Stuf has updated its online store to include two upcoming Region 1 Pokémon DVD releases by Viz, the entire Orange Islands season and 520 minutes of the Battle Frontier arc. The Orange Islands set, 760 minutes, will be released May 20, and the Battle Frontier set will be released June 24. Each will retail for $39.98.

...I bought the original three Orange Islands DVDs... at $15 each.

$40. Thanks, Viz. Way to make the early adopters feel screwed over.

Waitaminute...you're mad at Viz because you bought some single DVDs six years before the box set was released?

Besides, $15 for one Orange Island DVD times three DVDs equals $45. Which is only $5 more than what Viz is wanting for this box set.

I think you're just complaining for the sake of complaining :/

I pre-ordered Indigo Vol 3 from Amazon for $27.99 (Now currently $34.99). Amazon.com doesn't charge duty to Canada because they ship from Mississauga .

DeepDiscounts has the boxset for $27.05 with free shipping to the USA. This is well below the MSRP and the same thing will probably happen for the Orange League disks. These boxsets are very cheap.

Oh, of course. But what Neku is forgetting is that the trade-off for paying more for the singles is that she had the episodes on DVD up to five-six years before this box set even existed.

Now if Volume 3 just came out a month ago and then suddenly this box set was released, THEN she'd have a right to feel screwed over. But these singles are ancient and out-of-print...why NOT re-release these episodes in a boxset?

They're not out of print. They are still sold on Amazon.

I'm fairly certain that's the stock Amazon still happens to have...

Once it's gone, they won't restock, because they are out of print.

SHIT!

I can't believe I didn't have the foresight to wait 6 years in the future to save $5!

These box sets are a great price. I would buy them if and only if they had the Japanese audio track.

I know it gets said every time, but I don't think fans should stop asking for it.

I really wish people would say what currency they are using, i am assuming US? Not everyone here is from America. And region 1 won't work in Australia, will they? I think we need region 4.

Yeah but It could be any country dollars. Assuming it's $40US, if they are released here it would probably be $50-$55AU.

I have no idea how many sets it will take to contain Johto, that season was fucking huge. I'll probably pick this up to quell some nostalgia pains.

Quite possibly.

That is how I roll.

(And actually, I bought the Orange Islands sets during my junior year of high school- from Fry's, Best Buy, and FYE, respectively. That'd be two years ago. Still, I can't help but feel a little of that early adopters' regret. Also, I've been buying all my anime sets off Deep Discount now, and feel like a moron for not buying them off there in the first place.)

Well they got Master quest done in only two boxsets, the other two Johto seasons will probably be done in a similar fashion.

Are they going to release Johto seasons one and three too? I'll
probably get season three because I want to see the Pryce and Clair story arcs. More excited about the Pryce one though, since Clair can't entertain me with her annoying brattyness like in the games. (She's nothing like her game self, according to what I've been hearing)

In a goofy way, the Pryce arc is the closest thing I have to Poke spe. Since my local Comic book store never sells manga.

Region 1 is North America. Viz releases the Pokémon DVDs in the U.S. Some other company does it in Australia.

JLC was released in several DVDs (eight, I believe) with quite a few eppies to each, so they can probably put out one set. JJ, I don't know. I'm really hoping they get Johto out soon, so I can catch up on what I missed during my hiatus from the show (I had quiz team functions every Saturday with my middle school back then, so I kinda dropped the whole thing for a while)

Did they ever put the other two Advanced seasons out on DVD sets? If I can, I'd love to eventually have the complete DVD collection of Seasons 1-8.

you could always buy a region free dvd player.

The news article clearly states that the DVDs are coming out by Viz (an American company) and links to the sets' listings on RightStuf, also an American company. So why would list anything other than American currency?

If your computer has a DVD drive, you can play Region 1 DVDs usng a program called VLC.

Those episodes have already been collected in a box set.

Master Quest Set One (contains the Pryce episodes)

Master Quest Set One (contains the Clair episodes)
