I wanted to make a team to take on the battle tower. Single battles. Here's what I have.

Gengar @ Wise Glasses
- Thunderbolt
- Hypnosis
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast

This guy's the same Gengar I use for competitive battling.

Metagross @ Focus Sash
- Reflect
- Explosion
- Hammer Arm
- Meteor Mash

This is also the same Metagross that I use for competitive battling. I don't wanna take off the Focus Sash 'coz of Earthquake, Flamethrower and similar attacks that may disrupt it. If you have suggestions please do tell me...

Empoleon @ Choice Specs
- Surf
- Grass Knot
- Ice Beam
- Flash Cannon

A basic Choice Specs sweeper. I want to use it for my competitive team as well, and so I'm torn between Electivire and Empoleon. Should I or should I not put Emp in place of 'vire in my team?

Thanx to those who help!

On Gengar, I'd rather use WIde Lens over WIse Glasses and take advantage of the lack of Sleep Clause and put to sleep anyone and everyone I can.

There is absolutely no reason at all to be using Focus Sash on anything as defensive as a Metagross. None, unless of course you just like wasting item slots, in which case I would just suggest putting nothing there since a Lopunny or something can use Trick before you attack and survive, which would make things a bit more inconvenient.

You say you use it for ocmpetitive battling, but really, who stays in on an Earthquake with Metagross in competitive battles? Its not like people these days are overly creative.

Any other items, even hax items would be better than Focus Sash.

Also what's with the EV sprads, the extra three points in hit points aren't going to do much. If your so intend on raising HP, then why are you wasting three EVs on a stat (243 EV spread) and three EVs on another (255 EV spread). You could easily add four of those six wasted EVs into Hit points and get an extra point if its so important for you.

By the way, on someone like Metagross who has much higher defenses, it pays off to raise HP more than Defense. The closer the Defense stat is to the HP stat, the more optimised it is at takign hits, hence why you never see any good Shuckle users maxing out its two defenses rather than its poor HP.
