Kids hoping to grab a Happy Meal from McDonald's might end up with PETA's Unhappy Meal instead.

The animal rights organization lifted its moratorium on the McCruelty Campaign this year and since June has distributed Chicken McCruelty Unhappy Meals to McDonald's customers outside about a dozen restaurants around the country.

"McDonald's markets its food to children by packaging it in brightly colored boxes with toys," Lindsay Rajt, a spokeswoman for PETA, tells Slashfood. "But most kids really love animals, and if they knew that McDonald's suppliers were breaking the wings and legs of gentle animals like chickens, I think that you'd have to drag kids into McDonald's kicking and screaming."

The campaign, though, has parents "hatin' it."

A PETA protest of a McDonald's in Albany, N.Y., upset parents on Thursday, WXXA-TV reports.

But Rajt says children have seen worse things than PETA's Unhappy Meal, which comes "stained with blood" and containing a bloody rubber chicken, a cutout of a knife-wielding Ronald McDonald, photos of mutilated animals and a Chicken McCruelty T-shirt.

Also, seriously, just, wtf PETA. I mean, I'm not honestly surprised, for it is PETA, after all, but is this not just a bit too insane, even for them? Hmm? D:
 
I didn't care about the packaging, I cared about the food. Ronald can kill as many animals as he wants, it tastes good.
 
That doesn't look like un Unhappy Meal. It looks like a Soil-Your-Brand-New-Power-Rangers-Underwear-And-Have-A-Crippling-Perpetual-Fear-of-Clowns-for-the-Rest-of-your-Tortured-Life Meal.

And how long did it take for them to come up with "I'm hatin' it?"
 
This just makes me even more hungrier. I gonna prank call PETA one day and tell them I ate a rhino.
 
Looking on their site made me want McDonald's. I changed my MSN display picture to a Big Mac. Not joking.
 
I'm gonna go to PETA headquarters and throw a dead rhino at their window. It gonna make them angry.
 
I want one. I bet you'll be able to sell one for like... two-hundred bucks in thirty years.
 
PETA would be a commendable and respectable organization if only they weren't so damn stupid and didn't blow everything out of proportion.

The ethical treatment of animals is a good thing, but PETA as an organization is just so ridiculous that it is kind of a detriment to their cause, which is a shame.
 
PETA are sick bastards. That does nothing more than terrify children.

Apparently, my friend told me about this yesterday, and yeah, it's not surprising something like this would happen. But really, seeing the box.....makes me think it's freaking Twisted Metal's Sweet Tooth with a knife and dead rubber chicken. They don't realize that the younger children will eventually learn about where all the meat comes from, but learning about it like this......it's just no....

Poor children, PETA tries to give them nightmares and scare them for life JUST BECAUSE THEY EAT CHICKEN.

They're the ones being "mighty cruel". I know, it's PETA, but that's just low even for motherfucking bastards like them.
 
Soon PETA is going to try and ban us from eating meat. I have respect for animals and those that care for them, but we have to eat, right?

Caring for animal rights is a good thing, though doing something like this remove any sympathy. If they can't find something better to do than this, they really have problems. There's plenty of things they can do instead that's probably better for animals.

In the meantime, I think I'm going to eat chicken. PETA doesn't opperate over here anyways.
 
Oh, that crazy PETA. They're always trying to do crazy stuff like this. If it's not attacking the president for killing flies, or suggesting ice cream places switch over to breast milk, it's attacking McDonalds...

Don't they realize that they're causing more damage than they're fixing?
 
As if Ronald McDonald wasn't creepy enough, they had to go that little step further.
