Just beat the Elite 4 last night. Looking at trying my hand at breeding...any tips for a beginner. This is my first pokemon game since Crystal and I didn't really get all into breeding back then...I have a couple dittos and a few Pokemon with perfect I Vs....just looking to give it a whirl

Tip: Get a 6IV Ditto. There's a whole subreddit dedicated to giving out some for free and they make your breeding process so much easier.

First get the right equipment. Get yourself an everstone, destiny knot and the 6 power items.

Plan what you want the end result to be and set everything as soon as possible in the breeding chain, that means nature, egg moves, ability and if you're into that sort of thing the poke ball. You do not want to have to swap in a genetically weaker parent near the end and set yourself back.

Get hatching power and use it as often as possible so it levels up.

Look up something called time machine breeding. It's very helpful and could save you a lot of time if you use a 6iv ditto.

message me or something if you want to learn more. I've competitively breed like 60+ pokes in AS.

A good starting project would be to breed a 5-6 IV male Smeargle. Because you can breed it to anything in the Field egg group plus Smeargle can Sketch any custom moveset you want to pass down (quickest route: any double battle and just sketch desired move from the partner).

Add to that check their stats so you can be sure Smeargle goes after the partner.

A Pokemon with Flame body such as Flechinder and Tallonflame can help you hatch eggs faster when combined with hatching power 3.
