I started this thread partly because I'm interested in berries and poffins, and partly because I'm short of ideas to grow 2+ berries on trees. (But just before I posted this thread, I got 10 BERRIES from each of my 4 magost trees! I don't know why though.)
My "good luck charm" for growing berries is to just plant it, water it once, and water again once for each extra berry, and... done. Clearly, it doesn't work always. :p
Anyone have good ideas to grow 2+ berries on each tree? According to Pokemon official scenario guide vol.1, berries no.1 to 52 are capable of growing berries up to 5,(not sure yet, but I'm also assuming rare berries like ganlon, lansat and starf can also have 5 max) so it'd save us a lot of time to have a 5-berry ganlon than planting it again and again for 2-berry trees.
Oh, and anyone use fertilizers for berry plants? I only use growth mulch for slow berries.

Berries have different growth rates you know.

Yes, I do. But I can't remember them quite exactly yet, because I didn't grow berries on GBA games (which I played on the emulator). DP is the first generation I actually played with a console and a real-time clock system, so I'm enjoying growing berries. :)

I've gotten 12 berries off two bushes once. And ten off four bushes.

I believe the more you keep them watered and don't let them dry out, the more berries you get.

I believe I've got 15 a few times on some of the rare berries (Durin IIRC). The trick is to water them repeatedly so that they never reach any dry stage (if possible). I personally don't bother with mulches as they take too much effort to buy in bulk.

Yes, the maximum I got for Durin and all it's cousins are 15. Keep watering them. Use mulch if you need to. If you know you can't water your berries on time (due to school) use the wet mulch to slow down it's growth and keep the soil wet.

Anyone want to bring Hubologist's thread on prime berry growing areas?

I typically get fifteen off Durin and its related berries. I don't think just sitting and watering them fifteen times when you initially plant them is going to do the trick - you've got to continually visit the plant as it grows. Work out a route that lets you visit as many patches as possible in as little time as possible - there's a thread around here somewhere that has this sort of information already. Don't use patches that take a long time to get to, such as those across water or behind a large grassy area, because they mean it takes a lot longer to do your route.

My tip for the spelon/pamtre type berries is to water them every six hours.
I use that technique for all my berry plants
however, when the weekend comes, I fall out of schedule and often forget about my berries
also, it's easy to just have all your berries in one area that doesn't require flying. I use the Solaceon area where I have 4 in town and 4 north. If I wanna grow any extra, all I have to do is go southwest.

From these tips, I have bought much of the flowershop items and have over 700 sitris berries.

I abuse Fly for my berry route. The 4-plot in Solaceon, then the two or three 4-plots in and by Pastoria (mostly just the one in town and the one to the west; the type-cast berry giver's right on the way too), and if need be, the 4-plot just outside Eterna in the west.

ummmmm shouldn't this be in the simple questions and answers thread?

shucko will be here soon i bet and say the same

It's not strictly limited to a question though. If a thread like this belongs in the Simple Q&A thread, so would most of the other threads here (and I'm talking about the ones that don't get locked for by-passing the obvious, like all those "Where's the hotel room key" threads).

This is a specific discussion. *shrug* I don't see why it should be moved.

My recommendation for maximum berry returns (especially if you are not going to be on your game much) is to use Damp Mulch to keep the soil moist longer. Yes, berries take longer to grow, but coupled with frequent watering (whenever you get the chance to be on your game), you will more likely be able to get the maximum berry yield (5 t 15 berries). Slow-growing berries should not take more than 4 days to grow in this way.

As for berry planting routes, I typically use Floaroma - Berry Master House - Solaceon - Pastoria - Fight Area - Resort Area route, although I'm now reading the berry growing routes thread and investigating to see if there's more areas where I can plant berries conveniently.

I only use the spots near Fly-able places. But I guess I can't take care of all of them because I've got too many spots. I used to get 5 berries per plant all the time until I got Fly, after which I started using many spots. Perhaps I should reduce the number of spots I grow...
