With all those types out there, some great combinations can be made. I for one think ghost dark is overrated because even though it has no weaknesses it can still be hit with pleanty of other types. I like ghost dragon cause its unique and both types are awesome. I'd also like to see just one pure flying type.

Ghost/Normal has only one weakness. Id like to see some possesed doll like Raggedy Ann

Then again I've been waiting for Fire/Water and Fire/Grass for a while.

On topic: the worst is proboly Ice and Pyschic because it has so many weaknesses and very few resistances

Three I would love to see are Fire/Dragon, Electric/Ice (BoltBeam.) and Poison/Steel.

Earthquake weak, but it would be fun to play around with them.

Worst is Dragon/flying because an ice type will f it up XD

I always liked Water + Ground (Quagsire & Whiscash), despite it's weakness to Grass.

Worst type : Cant come up with one. Is there any?

I would love to see Dragon/Fire or Dragon/Ice, Fire/Grass, Fire/Water, and maybe Ice/Fighting. Water/Electric is pretty cool, too

The worst types right now would be ones that take 4X damage from Stealth Rock.

Bug/Flying ftl :(

Yeah.. I think either the worst type combo is probably Bug/Flying or Ice/Grass. As much as I totally want a hail team, each time I try making one I'm all 'oh my god I must have it as balanced as possible COVER UP THOSE WEAKNESSES AND HAVE RESISTANCES TO ALL OF THEM'. :(

Best type? I'm fond of Water/Electric (who could not love Lanturn? It's cute :<), myself. :D

How about water/ground with levitate ability... its still weak to grass, but negates the ground weakness with levitate, but then again, its now able to be hit with electric attacks.

There should be a Stealth Rock clause. It's so cheap, even more annoying than Spikes, and it makes certain pokemon useless.

Anyway, rant over for now. The best type combos would probably be Poison/Dark, Water/Dragon, and Dark/Ghost. Yes, Dark/Ghost takes alot of normal damage, but it also has 3 immunities and no weaknesses. Dark/Ghost with Levitate would be even better, and Dark/Ghost with Wonder Guard would be the best :p. Steel would probably pair well with some types. The worst is probably Grass/Psychic because of all the weaknesses it has.

Er...no it wouldn't. It's still part ground, which means it's still immune to Electric. And I never saw much of a weakness with Ground types to a Water/Ground type.

I see Stealth Rock as one of those things that you hate to have used against you, but when it's used in your favor, you love it. Besides, how exactly would you set up such a clause? Most people (from my observations in the RMT thread) only have one pokemon with Stealth Rock on their team, anyway, so you can't put up a clause saying 'only one pokemon on your team can have Stealth Rock,' because it really won't change much. Since it's not a status like sleep or paralysis, you can't limit people to only 'Stealth Rocking' one of your pokemon, either. The only other step to limit it would be to ban it, and that's going way too far for something fairly easily countered via Rapid Spin and already so well-established.

Oh, how broken Ghost/Dark Wonder Guard would be...I agree about Steel, though; I'd like to see a non-legendary Dragon/Steel or Fire/Steel, as well as maybe Steel/Dark, Steel/Grass, and Steel/Ice. But I wouldn't say Grass/Psychic has a lot of weaknesses...I've actually found it to be a pretty good typing, myself.

OK, I just wrote a script that analyzes each of the type combos. It sorts them based on the weighted average of all the damage multipliers against that type combo. The number immediately after each combo in these results is the weighted average. It's calculated for Ghost/Steel for example as (3 * 0 + 1 * .25 + 7 * .5 + 4 * 1 + 2 * 2 + 0 * 4) / 17.

Here are the top 5 and bottom 5 type combos according to this. Note: this doesn't take abilities into account.

Best:
Ghost/Steel: 0.691176 3 1 7 4 2 0
Flying/Steel: 0.705882 2 2 7 4 2 0
Dragon/Steel: 0.720588 1 1 10 3 2 0
Water/Steel: 0.764706 1 2 9 2 3 0
Ghost/Dark: 0.794118 3 0 1 13 0 0

Worst:
Ground/Rock: 1.36765 1 1 4 5 4 2
Ice/Bug: 1.38235 0 0 3 10 2 2
Grass/Ice: 1.41176 0 0 4 6 6 1
Grass/Bug: 1.41176 0 2 3 6 4 2
Ice/Rock: 1.47059 0 0 4 7 4 2

As expected, Steel dominates as a defensive type. A Ghost/Steel-type would be pretty cool IMO. And like many have figured, Paras and Parasect get the shaft when it comes to typing, although they don't have it quite as bad as an Ice/Rock-type would have. And looking through the whole list, I do believe Dark/Ghost is the only type combo with no weaknesses (again, not taking abilities into account).

Edit: I fixed a bug in the script where Dragon's resistance to water was accidentally put in as a weakness, I fixed it and updated the results.

Yes, nothing hits Dark/Ghost for super-effective damage. However, there's only two of them, and only one of them has halfway decent stats. This is a pretty cool chart, though.

It seems like Ice, Grass, Bug, and Rock are the real weak links when it comes to damage-taking. Heh, and consider that EVERY rock-type in the first gen besides the fossil pokemon was also part ground...still, a lot of those types (barring Bug, though it still has it's uses) are fantastic offensively, and STAB never hurt anything. Steel, the dominating defensive typing, has very poor offensive capabilities, as does Flying and, to some extent, Ghost.

This seems to be a case of 'different pokemon for different jobs.' Some pokemon who are, in terms of typing, the 'worst' defensively have great offensive capability if they can get in clean and avoid too much damage (case in point: Abomasnow).

There is already a steel/dragon type that exists *cough* *cough* DIALGA *cough* *cough* and actualy seeing as it has pretty good defence because its part steal, fighting and ground tend to not do that much.

From the immunity perspective I think Normal/Ghost with the ability levitate would be a fascinatingly fantastic typing. Immunity to Ground, Ghost, Fighting and Normal is pretty awesome in my book! I would want a Normal/Ghost type released in the near future.
