Best Anime Music?

You have to judge by composer, not by anime title... That said, Yuji Kajiura's stuff is no doubt some of the best, if not THE best music that I've ever heard in an animated series.

I'm not sure for the other two that Mozz mentioned, but Noir music is composed by her. Same goes for music from Tsubasa Chronicle, which, in my opinion, is even better than Noir's.

You might have heard of this person called Yoko Kanno... I dunno, she's sorta not well-known ;)

It's not just the composer but the context as well, I'd say. The composer for Pokémon anime [including movies] has always been [or included in the case of teamwork] Miyazaki Shinji. Yet the styles vary quite a bit.

That said, I'm impressed with what I have heard of Joe Hisaishi so far, especially Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke... but those are movies, not series.

.hack//SIGN, which is also Yuki Kajiura

I also like Evangelion's, which is composed by Shiro Sagisu.

Yoko Kanno rocks. So far, I like Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex's music best, but Escaflowne is also quite good. (I haven't quite had a chance to watch/listen to Cowboy Bebop yet)

I like Ghost in the shells music, especially the into, "Inner Universe".

I really like the music from Steel Angel Kurumi, as well as Evangelion and One Piece.

Wait a minute, THE Shiro Sano? Voice of Bishasu?

My bad. I meant Shiro Sagisu. Sorry.

I have to agree with both Cowboy Bebop and Evangelion. Evangelion satisfies a lot of my classical music desires, and using that style of music during a fight scene is something I just love. Additionally, I do love .hack's soundtracks, though that's probably a step below Bebop and Eva on my list.

Fullmetal Alchemist has some good classical. Can't argue with the Moscow Symphony Orchestra.

What, no Japanese One Piece love? That show easily has the best non Yoko Kanno-anime score I've ever heard.

Also, FLCL.

I'll fall in with others and say Cowboy Bebop, .hack//SIGN, and Utena. .hack//SIGN in particular is very nice because it really succeeds at making the Anime feel like a video game. I'd also like to throw Inu-Yasha into the mix because besides having a few really beautiful intro/ending themes it also has very good BG music.

I know there are a few other series' that had very stand-out music for me but I can't recall them off-hand =/

Dogasu already mentioned it,but the music in Furi Kuri is a huge reason why it kicks so much ass.

It's another anime Yoko Kanno has worked on,but I thought Wolf's Rain music was amazing. And I absolutely LOVE Mina Soko ni Nemure from Blue Submarine No.6.

.Hack//SIGN, no contest. While I love songs from many series, that's about the only one where I could listen to every track and be happy.

(But not .Hack//Legend of Twilight. That whole things gives me a headache. -__-; )

My favs are all of the Japanese (naturally) One Piece music and the OST of the first Rurouni Kenshin OAVs...

Simply awesome!
