Which Pokemon battles do you deem as the best ones in the anime? I need some recommendations so I can re-watch them :)

Ash vs. Gary in the Silver Conference and May vs. Drew in the Kanto Grand Festival come to mind.

The most recent one I can think of which was truly great was May vs. Drew.

Either of Ash's battles against Blaine. "Pikachu! The horn!" and Charizard redirecting a Fire Blast then surviving a dunk into lava ftw. More recently, his battle with Gardenia was pretty damn cool.

You might as well rewatch all the league matches, the two Grand Festivals, the Orange league, the DP tag battle arc, the Wallace cup, etc.

Also, the BF Pewter Gym battle with Ash/Brock Vs. TR's Aggron/Charizard was also very good.

Kanto league wasn't that great in my opinion. =/ But any battle against gary is good really.

Ash's battle in the Hoehn league against the girl with blue hair was pretty good. She had a team of things you don't see in battles very often (if at all).

Katie? Yeah, that and pretty much every battle that League. The Hoenn League by far had some of the best battles. Clark, Katie, Morrison, and Tyson were all fantastic battles.

In order, starting from best battle:

**Ash vs. Harrison**

"Playing with Fire" and "Johto Photo Finish"

Highlight: Ash's Charizard against Harrison's Blaziken in a battle to see which fire Pokémon is the most powerful. Exciting from start to finish as the other battles are good as well.

**Ash vs. Gary**

"The Ties that Bind" and "Can't Beat the Heat"

Highlight: Ash's Charizard against Gary's Blastoise each of which are still the main powerhouses of their respective trainer. In a showdown for the ages, Ash is shackled in a mind-boggling battle with his eternal rival pitting fire against water.

**Ash vs. Brandon**

"Gathering the Gang of Four" and "Pace - The Final Frontier"

Highlight: All of the battles are equally exciting although you'd have to really take a slender look at Ash's call for a Seismic Toss against Dusclops... other than that, the battle was very fluid and well animated.

**Ash vs. Noland**

"The Symbol Life"

Highlight: Ash's Charizard against Noland's Articuno (hmm, sort of) in a battle matching power with legend as Charizard has to face yet another legendary Pokémon in battle. The result? You have to watch the episode to really know how it all went.

**Ash vs. Drake**

"Hello Pummello" and "Enter the Dragonite"

Highlight: Dragonite is perhaps the strongest of all trained Pokémon to ever appear in the anime as it took Ash almost all of his Pokémon to... well, watch it to know how it ended as the battle is truly an exciting one!

**Ash vs. Blaine**

"Riddle me This" and "Volcanic Picnic"

Highlight: Blaine's Magmar in a very one-sided match against Ash's Pikachu and the subsequent match pitting fire against fire as Magmar is pitted against Charizard in an epic duel on top of a volcano.

**Ash vs. Tyson**

"Choose it or Lose it" and "At the End of the Fray"

Highlight: Solid match and Pikachu against Meowth is never a bad treat although you have to question Ash not recalling any of his Pokémon back as in the end he did not... well, you'll know what I mean at the end of the battle.

Ash vs Tucker, definitely. And Ash vs Roark (1st time). Incidentally, I didn't care too much for the rematch :p

Personally, I liked Ash vs. Roark (Part II) and Ash vs. Gardenia for Sinnoh.

Earlier battles I had enjoyed were May vs. Drew, as well as, Ash vs. Gary (Silver Conference).

The Indigo leagues battles may not be anything to write home about but they're still enjoyable. Granted its probably because of the nostalgia, but its still a fun tournament.

You just have to remind yourself that in Season 1 the battles were usually very short and almost always decided by one-hit KO's.

Remember the Gary Vs. Giovanni battle in Viridan Gym? Gary basically KO's two of Giovanni's Pokemon with like one attack, lol.

The only Indigo League battle I thought was any good was Ash's fourth round match. Bulbasaur taking out both Beedrill and Scyther was just TOO badass :)

I loved the ending to the Bellsprout vs. Muk battle. Great strategy to use Muk against such an opponent.

Watching Bellsprout get suffocated underneath what was basically a poisonous heap of sludge was pretty awesome...
