Best Competitive Mega Evolutions?

I've recently been playing on a competitive battle simulator, Pokemon Showdown. I've made a lot of teams in which didn't completely fail. Because of X and Y, a new threat was added into the metagame: Mega Evolution. Now there's huge threats such as Mega Mawile, Mega Scizor, Mega Gardevoir and more. I think everyone knows that some just completely suck **Blastoise**, but many are powerful, and fun to use. Already, Smogon has banned three of them to Ubers; Blaziken, Lucario, and Kangashkan.

So the main point of this is just what sets have you had the best luck with? I know Mega Venusaur's been pretty popular for a staller, and Mega Charizard Y's been the sweeper every other team has. What's your favorite set to run on any Mega Pokemon?

I need to breed some Mega Evolution Pokemon, but probably my favorite is Mega Blaziken. Blaziken is my favorite Pokemon, plus with Speed Boost+Protect, it can hit pretty hard in my experiance. A lot of people challenge me with their competive teams on Player Search System, when I get the chance, I put some major hurt on some of their Pokemon before Blaziken faints. I would say the biggest drawback is the recoil.

Speaking of Speed Boost Blaziken, wasn't the regular Blaziken in Ubers already? If so, then it's Mega-Evolution pretty much made it that much tougher or whatever.

Mega Evolutions

This thread is still on the front page. Please scroll down a bit before posting a new thread next time. Thanks. :)

On topic, my favorites are Aggron and Abomasnow but I use Gyarados most of the time as the other two are relatively niche and much harder to just slap on a team.

Mega Blastoise doesn't "suck" competitively. Sure, it's not top-tier, I'll give you that, but it's a pretty damn big leap to say its bad. It has its niche. Launcher boosted Dark Pulse guarantees it'll get the Rapid Spin since it can now reliably take out ghosts, and Aura Sphere is good for coverage. Also, it has a pretty massive Sp. Atk stat to abuse now. Really, the only thing holding it back is the lack of reliable Recovery.

Mega Bannette on the other hand, now that's a pretty bad Mega. Also, MAlakazam actually deals less damage than regular Alakazam with a Life Orb. So yeah. Oh, and from what I've seen, MLati@s are actually mediocre at best. Soul Dew is a much better item for both of them.

As for my favorites, I love Mega Venusaur. Such a boss Pokemon. Hell, it is arguably the best tank in OU. With reliable recovery and only two (uncommon) weaknesses attached to that sexy bulk, MSaur will wreck shit up.

I also like MHoundoom, but I feel it would have been better as an evolution to Houndoom instead of a Mega Evolution.

And I think MGarchomp is what regular Garchomp should've looked like (at least aesthetically.)

Other Megas I like aesthetically are MAbomasnow, MAmpharos, MGardevoir, and MTyranitar.

MManectric has a disappointing design. MSizor and MHeracross are just...ew. Way to ruin two of the most awesome Pokemon in the game.

All the others, I'm 'meh' about. Zard Y looks so much better than Zard X. Really, did we even need Zard X?

No! Blastoise's mega is far from bad or sucky! I think Blastoise will probably be the most powerful mega in UU. With his mega launcher ability and great coverage he's far from bad. In fact the only bad mega evos are Bannete (prankster doesn't immediately activate) and Alakazam for reasons mentioned above. I'd say M-Char X and Y will be major threats as will Venasaur and Mawile. The sad thing though is that most mega pokemon do better with items.

mega garchomp is cool. not the best one but absolutely still usable.
mega tyranitar can run a killer dd set due to its ridiculous bulk.
mega charizard x/y are good for very obvious reasons
mega pinsir is an enormous offensive presence
etc.

i like mega gardevoir a lot: try running hyper voice / psychic or psyshock / focus blast / will-o-wisp! it's a surprisingly decent set but suffers from mediocre speed and dismal physical bulk

I absolutely love Mega Aggron. Pro Filter, awesome defense. A steel-type surviving an Earthquake coming from a Mega Garchomp? Now that's something. The best physical wall imo.

M-Scizor is actually becoming one of my favorites. Buffed up U-Turn and Bullet Punch and its base 75 Speed? Much better than the original Scizor. Also has better Defenses to set up Swords Dance. Still dies to just about any Fire type move but a 4x weakness doesn't help.

I'm curious, does MScizor do more or less damage than CB Scizor?

Mega Mawile, seriously, this pokemon has saved my butt from annoying legendaries like Darkrai countless times, and swept whole teams of legendaries in the process. In fact I'm kind of tempted to rename mine "the legendary killer".

Like SharKing said it does do less. However it allows for easy switching of moves and gives it access to Roost as a Support move. MScizor is kinda what you would want to go with if you want to be more versatile with Scizor than just Banding it up.
