What would you recommend as the best MP3 player? I'm thinking of getting one that's fairly small (iPod mini-sized) with a long battery. My friend claims that iPods just randomly break. Is this true?

The Creative Zen

Second the Zen. I have one of the older models (with the joystick) but they're very userfriendly, affordable, and stylish.

As for iPods, I can't say if they break a lot or not (my friend just said "no"), but Apple tends to take their sweet time replacing the batteries, and I've heard iTunes horror stories. Plus, I don't like Apple, so I can't recommend them.

My bro has one of the new Zunes, and it seems to work well. I really like how you can flick-scroll down the song lists quickly with it. And negative stuff I should know?

I used to be an apple hater... until I bought an ipod. Lets just say that I work in an environment that is very unfriendly to electronics, and so far I have went through four 30g classics. Apple has replaced them all with hardly any questions asked, just make sure to spend the extra 40 bucks or so after the initial warranty wears off so you stay covered. Seriously, their customer service has always been excellent, and I've tested it out thoroughly. I have always dealt with apple through the apple stores. So they replace it right then and there, but I cant say how long it would take if you had to send it in.

I dunno about the "best," but all I have/need is my 2GB Walkman.

(No, the headphone wire isn't really that short. >_>)

The Zen looks pretty good. My cousin has one.

Some; though I would recommend MP4's instead - .rm and .m4a files work better on them. Sadly, I don't own an MP3/4.

Just get a cellphone that supports MicroSD and use that or something.
