Based of:http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/showthread.php?t=40668 "worst games you have ever played" I decided to make this thread. What old games have you played and found good to play? For me its:

Rick Dangerous = Now thats one heck of a hard game to play. On CPC the graphics look a little worse, but overall, it has about 5 levels and is hard to play. Especially when you can't save your game either. Its like Indiana Jones or something and you'd have to play it for hours just to get any good at it IMO. Here is a screen of version I played before:

Another game that was IMO one of the best car racing games of time is Burnin Rubber. It came as a cartridge on some Amstrad CPC computers and I even liked the music. I played it for hours trying to get to end and only after 5 years did I manage to finish the game and win:

Next I liked was "Ghouls'n'Ghosts" more so than the first game, "Ghosts'n'goblins" which I only played a few times:

Now my favourite airplane shooting game was definatly "UN SQuadron" but the version I played was on Amstrad CPC and music was different and so was some levels than the arcade version, but it was still a great shooter, both versions.

I think they mean like NES, SNES and Nintendo 64 games.

I liked Kirby's Adventure for the NES, being the only NES game I can play. Still haven't beaten it, got stuck on Kracko on Level 4: Grape Garden.

Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time for the Nintendo 64 was just AWESOME. I beat it and it was SOOOO worth it. I loved fighting the water bosses, Morpha and Barinade.

Legend Of Zelda: Majora's Mask was the sequel and it's really good. I haven't beaten it yet, right now I'm at the Pirate's Fortress.

Star Fox 64 is really awesome. Do a barrel roll! But seriously, I personally HATE shooting games. But I loved this game, and not just for the barrel rolls.

Finally, the original Super Mario Brothers just PWNS gaming altogether.

I'll explain gameboy games too if thats okay.

I have to go with ashfangirl on Star Fox 64. Classic game right there.

Kirby's Advenure (Any Kirby game really)

Super Mario Bros 2 (The Jap version, not US)

Doki Doki Panic (For two years I thought it was Doki Doki Planet)

Mega Man (It's been nine years, still can't beat it)

I have alot
Super Ghouls'n'Ghosts
Sky Odyssey
Pokemon Crystal
Mortal Kombat (I know you guys are gonna be shocked by this, but I've played it since I was like 5)

Ocarina of time, StarFox 64, Smash bros, Stadium, a couple other games I can't remember the names of but know were fun.

Both Ocarina and Majora's Mask are excellent. ^^

Anyone play Gunstar Heroes for Genesis? That game was flippin' amazing.

I'm gonna have to go with Super Metroid. Zebes was effin' gigantic, and you had no idea where to go. It really captured the essence of the series; instead of holding your hand all the way, the game lets you figure out what to do on your own.

Anything from when games really started 70s to the mid-late 90's would be considered old

Alright then.
When I was a kid, I remember having a Sega Mega Drive for several years, on and it, I loved playing the following games:

Streets of Rage. An epic beat 'em up that was just extremely addicting. You went through a variety of areas for a total of 8 levels.
One of my favourite features though was the fact that you could pair up with a friend. I used to play for hours with my older brother.

Super Hang-On. Oh Em Gee, best driver for Mega Drive ever. Super Hang-On was a port of the Arcade game of the same name, but with an added Original Mode. The Arcade made played out as any other driving game, where you just got to the end, but the Original Mode was much more well thought.
You went against "stars" who think they're the best, and it was your job to beat them at their own game. Unfortunately, your motorbike starts out in the scrap heap, so you must use your well earned money to upgrade your bike so you can beat the later "stars".

Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
Either the best Sonic game ever or coming in close behind Sonic the Hedgehog 2. This monster of a game was a traditional Sonic platformer, where you goal was to get to the end and beat up Robotnik (why did they call him Eggman?). The main attraction of this game was that you could play as either Sonic, Tails or Knuckles through 10+ zones (your choice of zones depended on your character. 11/12 for Sonic, 11 for Tails and 10 for Knuckles).
And also, there's a save feature, so you can just stop whenever you wish.

Kai, that's all I can remember.

Super Hang-On was great, though I was never good enough at it to get anywhere. :p

Holy crap, this x 1000. I can't believe I forgot to mention this one; it's one of my favorites of all time and I still play it today (on my old Genesis, no less!). That game (well, games) was truly a magical work of art, one that seems destined to never be reproduced or one-upped. Easily better than Sonic 2 in my opinion. All recent Sonic games (save perhaps Sonic Adventure) are laughable compared to this one.

Any other Jazz Jackrabbit fans here?

Then of course there's the classic N64 games like OOT and Starfox that have been mentioned. Every Nintendo made Zelda game except Zelda 2, the first 2 gens of Pokemon, Frogger is a classic, and of course Asteroids.

I actually was not a fan of Link's Awakening. Not at all. Some dungeons were overly confusing and downright frustrating (Eagle's Tower, I'm looking at you), and the ending ruined it for me, which is sad, considering they literally tell you halfway through the game how it's going to end. That's not to say the game's terrible, there were just a lot of things I disliked about it.

Agreed on the first two gens of Pokemon though. GSC was and still is king in my eyes.

I just remembered two games I played which I liked:

Strider/Strider 2 - I only played these a few times, but at the time, these were good games to play

I remember another game I played years ago, it was not great but does anyone know what it was? I am nearly sure it had "Ankh Amulet" in it and the graphics were very 3D computery (if that makes sense) and you played as an elf or something and you had to go down to the cellar or basement at the start of the game for your mom or something and I remmeber having a race in karts with some fairies or elfs.

I still have not beaten Link's Awakening. I started it about a year and a half ago, got stuck and stopped playing. It took me a long time to get past the Face Shrine, and now I don't know what the dungeon is called, but it's the one that has Kirby as an enemy. I still enjoy the game though, it's just frustrating and I'll probably never play it again.

Pokemon, gens 1 and 2

2d sonic games

Daytona USA (it was the best driving game in the arcade even though it was old)

ridge racer

spyro ps1

and of corse

SUPER SMAAAAAAAASH BROTHERS!

I’m a little surprised that no one has mention Super Mario Bros. 3. That was one of the best games that I have ever played with all the great power-ups, items, the music, new enemies, the introduction of the Koopa Kids, etc. Super Mario Bros. 3 will always be one of the best games of all-time as far as I’m concerned.

Other All-Time Greats:

Pac-Man: There’s a reason why it’s still so popular after almost 30 years. It’s fun, simple, and very addictive to play.

Tetris: Similar to Pac-Man about how it’s fun, simple, and very addictive to play. Plus, it’s the game that got me into puzzle games and the original Game Boy music is so iconic that it made it into Super Smash Bros. Brawl as one of the alternative background songs for the Luigi’s Mansion stage.

Street Fighter II: This is the game that can be thanked (or blamed depending on your point of view) that made me such a big time fighting game fan.

Super Metriod: 15 years after it’s release it’s still the best Metriod game EVER!!!

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time: It’s still the best Zelda game of all-time. Memorable storyline, great music, Ocarina of Time was one of those games that really gave a great gaming experience, while playing it.

And of course,

Super Mario Bros. : One of the first video games that I ever played and got me into gaming in the first place.

I absolutely adore all the old Mario games for the NES, SNES, and N64. I love Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Mario Party and Mario Party 2, Super Mario Bros., Super Mario. Bros. 3, Super Mario World, all those. I love them so much.

I also love the original Super Smash Bros. Although Brawl has taken the spot for my favorite game in the Smash Bros. series, the original will always have a special place in my heart.
