Best Open World Game

How about one for each console? :B

Gotta be predictable and say GTA on the PS3/Xbox. Probably something like Harvest Moon on the 3DS and The Sims 2 on PC.

If I MUST pick an over all winner out of those, I'd go with Harvest Moon for personal preference.

Going against the grain here.

Spider Man 2 for the Playstation 2.

Say what you will about the movies, the game is just amazing. Being able to swing around New York and fight bad-guys in such an open environment is so awesome. Even after completing the main quest, there's so much to do and explore. To this day I still haven't completed the game 100%, and yes, I still play this game a lot. xD

Simpsons Hit & Run deserves an honorable mention. The world and music in that game were absolutely charming. Throw the latest South Park game in there for contention as well now that I think of it.

I said only one! :bash:

Just kidding I don't really care lol whatevs.

At the end of the say I think Skyrim is the best open world game. It's definitely the most time consuming.

If I had to pick at least just one overall, it'd be either Grand Theft Auto: Vice City or San Andreas. I adore others, but GTA is the only series with single games that I have spent quite so many hours on, had so many laughs from and gone back to so much over such a long time. The Sims 3 and Harvest Moon: A New Beginning are close seconds, though, and Minecraft is also really deserving of recognition.

fallout 3/ new vegas
not only you get a gigantic open world, the mods expand the world beyond anyone imagination

It's a really hard pick!
I was going to say Far Cry 2/3 but I'll pick S.T.A.L.K.E.R saga, an open world survival horror is just my dream made true.

Far Cry 3, Borderlands, Skyrim, Red Dead Redemption, Fallout.. All really good. Though I have to give it to Skyrim because it's just amazing fun and a very big time sink.

I feel guilty falling to Skyrim as my default answer, so I'll stick with Xenoblade.

I don't play many open world games really but for me it's Harvest Moon, and Bully.

I haven't played a lot of open world games, which is funny because the few I have I enjoyed. However, and despite my qualms with the game these days, I have to give it to World of Warcraft... before the Cataclysm at least, because that one turned a good portion of the landscapes into lava and that's no fun. I spent many hours exploring Azeroth and the Outlands and it was just an amazing experience. On foot, it became a journey, especially when you thought it was a good idea to venture into lands with monsters far over your level, haha. Good times.

Open World to me is something that doesn't have much blocked off from the beginning including entire areas of the game. I'd have to say that GTA5 is probably the best Open World game. You can basically travel the entirety of the map from the moment you finish the first mission. You can unlock every weapon with cheats from the minute you finish the first mission and you can spawn vehicles from the minute you're done the first game.

Saints Row 4, I would have to say. I know people don't like the 3rd and 4th games of the SR series but I really like them.

Also I like Saints Row better than GTA.

Oh boy, did I just say that?

Saints Row 3/4 for sure. Also Infamous Second Son.
