With D/P's release in English under 2 months away, I want to know what natures I should everstone-breed onto a group of starter babies in Emerald for transfer onto Diamond. Could anyone post some recommendations?

EDIT: I already have a bold Squirtle.

Here goes nothing...

Naetoru/Turtwig - Go for Earthquake/Crunch/Return/Rest (yeah that probably is lame) maybe Adamant or Impish for basically raising attack/defense and lowering special attack which you won't need. Naetoru and it's evolutions have attack and defense in their high points as base statistics.

Hikozaru/Chimchar - Strong points are Attack and Special Attack. So it depends, you either Naughty or Lonely to raise attack and lower defense/special defense for a physical type, for a special type you want Rash or Mild.

For physical you definitely want In Fight and perhaps a few elemental punches and for special you want fire type moves such as Flamethrower, possibly Grass Rope for water types and two other moves for your own decision.

Pocchama/Piplup - Special Attack/Special Defense are it's strong points and Attack isn't that great so go for Modest or Mild perhaps... and then just go for Surf, Ice Beam, Rest, and Toxic perhaps...

Please remember Chosen this is a first draft and I'll probably adjust this post based on things I read to further help you out. Good Luck.

Remember also that from Futaba/Twinleaf to the Elite Four, it's not really important about the nature until you get to the Battle Tower.

Adamant Torchic would be nice, Blaziken learns a lot of physical moves, especially after evolution. Flare Drive and Blaze Kick get STAB, too.

In DP, it learns Crush Claw by breeding, too, but not in RSE. So... yeah, if you want to, wait on that. I certainly will be. Already got a Typhlosion with it, and he can just pass it down in DP. Raising Attack is always good on a Physical Pokémon.

Charmander would be good with an Adamant nature, too, since it learns a lot of Physical, and its stat focus is more Special. Plus, Outrage is too cool.

...yeah, and you know, we do have the links for each of the starter Pokémon as well as the Natures on the Pedia. Though I'd recommend looking at their final forms' stats more, as well as the attacks they learn. After all, Blaziken is more Physical, though Torchic is more Special.

What? Adamant? I think it's better to choose another nature that raises Atk, since Adamant takes down the Spec. Atk and they learn Special technniques, too. Lonely or Naughty or something. My Bashaamo/Blaziken often ends up with more Sp. Atk than Atk, but that may be becasue I evolve it at Lv.43, other way it may have more Atk, but both stats are important. I would not let it have nature Adamant or Modest.
(The natures just makes it easier/harder to raise the stats, but it the end an adamant pkmn can have as much Sp.Atk as a modest, it's just harder to get there, is that so? Natures just cuts and doubles ev points? Is the limit still the same?)

Not really, because of the game mechanic changes, moves like Blaze Kick and Fire Punch become physical, so Blaziken has quite a good physical STAB movepool. If Blazikens strength is attack, play on it, because you can use the new game mechanics to gain a great advantage with it.

But my Pokémon Guide (ruby/sapphire) says all Fire techniques are Special. What do you mean by new game mechanics? Is it pkmn DP?
I have always wondered why Fire Punch was not Atk, it should have been both Fire and Fighting.

That has changed in DP. Now moves of any type that connect or have a physical component (like Fire Punch) are Attack. Moves that involve shooting/beams/long range like Hyper Beam are Special. For the most part.

Yay! so all attaks that are physical are Attack now? And all nonphysical are Spec. Atk. It's harder to know what is what now, but I like it anyway. There is a pkmn that learns all the punch attacks, but its Spec. Atk is its lowest stat, now that pkmn will be much better. I think that in DP is much better, but it means some pkmn must be trained for use on Advance and other pkmn trained for use at DS.

You can tell the difference between a physical and special attack in Diamond. When checking the pp and power of a technique there is a symbol telling if it's special or not. If it's a star it's physical, if it's circles it's special. I have Diamond now, and I think that is it.

I think the point of this thread was missed completely...

After narrowing it down, I want good natures for these Pokémon in D/P:

  • Venusaur
  • Charizard
  • Sceptile
  • Swampert
