hi all,

I'm trying to prepare for the Elite 4.

I have two pokes in the 60s and I've been wandering through Victory Rd with an ExpShare on whoever I am raising - but it is still very slow going.

are there any other tips??

thanks!

Is this your first attempt at fighting them? If so, you don't need to be in your 60s to beat them. I beat the Elite 4 with my Pokémon at level 48, so it should be no problem for you.

there's no easy way to level up.
you just need to keep at it, battling and battling. it's boring but it's got to be done.

Have you done the Iron Island sidequest yet? If not, head on over there and exploit Riley's free healing. Your team will also get loads of Defense EVs - I got everyone on my team to fifty and they were able to take an exploding Graveler without passing out.

Besides the Victory Road, there's a trainer on Route 222. He has two Gyarados for me, so that's roughly 1250 (average) xp with exp share per (so ~2500 a battle). I used to use that a lot...

I'm not sure if he only has a Magikarp and Gyarados pre-E4 though.

Train a lot. I learned today that if you are patient, you can get a pikachu from lvl 5 to 81 before you leave the viridian forest in pokemon yellow. Just be patient and do a whole LOT of training.

Course, with lvl 60's I'd say you are pretty well off.

Geezes. How bored were you? Though I suppose technically, you could go from level 5 to 100 before reaching the first pokecenter.

Get traded Pokemon, 'cause boosted experience helps a shit load. Leveling non-boosted Pokemon to 100 is a serious pain in the ass...

And train when you're doing something tedious, like when you are at school or something. :p

I wasn't me. It was some guy in the older versions section.

If you can get 3 pokemon in 60's and rest are in 40s-50s, I'd challenge E4 then, even if you lose, you'll gain a lot of experience if you give one of your lower level ones a expshare. You'll eventually have pokemon ready to beat E4, even if you lose several times, what I do.

The way I leveled up my team is abusing Platinum. You can trade over pokemon from a Diamond/Pearl game (if you have it), equip one of them with a Lucky Egg, and battle the Elite 4. The highest Level pokemon they will have at the time is a LV 62 Garchomp, which is still saying much despite it being downplayed from Diamond/Pearl.
Generally speaking, any pokemon from a different game will accumulate 1.5x more experience than a pokemon obtained in your Platinum game. The Lucky Egg in question will also increase the amount of experience obtained in battles by an additional 50%. Battle several trainers in the Victory Road; their pokemon will tend to be LV 40-50, slightly below the LV of the rival's pokemon.
Also make sure to EV train these pokemon, as their stats tend to be higher than pokemon that are not trained this way. It's not about "levels" in terms of battle mechanics, it's stats. And if you're stats are high enough, pokemon of a lower level tier will still be able to defeat high-leveled opponents.

Here's a tip. Spend all your money buying healing items that you would actually use to fight the EF, but don't use them until you are absolutely ready to take them down. Then, go in and fight the EF. You will lose little to no money and your pokemon will keep getting stronger. I do that in every version. I swear sometimes Karen wanted to say to me, "Alright, Sammy, enough. Here, jsut go lose to Lance for a change. Give Umbreon a brake.
