I came across this today and decided to share it with everyone:

It would seem that at some point, Cartoon Network would promote individual episodes of Pokémon: Diamond & Pearl instead of recycling one promo for the whole series like they do now. Though I can't be certain, it would seem promos like these were used until it was moved from it's PM slot to an AM slot.

Now in 2013, Pokémon doesn't get nearly as much advertisement as it used to back in 2007. Should Cartoon Network do more promos like the old ones or is it unnecessary?

I think I remember some individual promos for the show for its Saturday morning slot, but I could be mistaken. While having more individual promos would be nice, I'm not sure if it's really necessary at this point. The show still gets pretty decent ratings anyway and since Cartoon Network don't get as much money from Pokemon as they do with their own shows, they might not think it's worthwhile to create individual promos. The example that you gave was from when Pokemon being exclusive to Cartoon Network was still relatively new since I think this was only a year after Pokemon premieres moved to the channel. They probably don't think that's necessary to do now five years later.

Definitely! A little advertising would definitely help the Black and White series out.

I mean, it's not necessary, but it wouldn't hurt matters at all. It would only help, IMO.

@Hidden Mew BW has been doing pretty good but just a little more thought into advertising could go a long way and bring in more viewers. It would also be nice if they could move new episodes back into the PM slot.

@SonGoku It would probably give them 1/4 - 1/2 more viewers than they have right now.

i dont see whats soo difficult.. pokemon in japan has the "next tiem on pokemon" after each episode.. why cant tpci just dub that each week and hand it off to CN for commercial airings.. its not like CN has to do any work on it, just add the CN bumper at the end of it.. the commercial has already been made basically..

More advertising certainly couldn't hurt, but Cartoon Network probably doesn't think that they need to, especially when they just make one general ad to cover the whole season. Although, they'll have to make two more for this season anyway, but they still probably don't think it's worthwhile to make more promos for the series. I'm actually fine with Pokemon premieres staying on Saturday morning. It fits there a lot more than prime time and I doubt that it would do as well as some of their popular original series like Adventure Time or Regular Show does during those time slot

It's probably because including that would take up more time that they could use for commercials. They did start to have a preview segment for Beyblade when the new season started, but then that was quickly discarded. It would save Cartoon Network a bit of work, but they probably aren't interested in using the individual episode preview segments from the original version like that.

That was almost 6 years ago and things have changed.

Heck, CN does generalized series commercials for some of their own shows, usually ones they don't like/are tired of. At this point they're mainly just using the Anime to fill time slot holes (so it's come down to this...), so doing individual episode ads just isn't very practical.

...plus, much BW isn't worth advertising individually :p

We have the same promo for like the entire season which is sad. I would not mind new promos every few months

Even if it wasn't for individual episodes, they should at least make promos for episodes with big events, like the Vertress Conference.

They'll most likely make a new promo for Episode N and the Da! arc. It would be seriously weird if they kept talking about Ash and his friends making their way to the Unova League after they finishing airing the Unova Leauge in a couple of weeks.

Ya, just sticking a preview for the next episode like they do with the new episodes in japan would be cool.

I mean they advertise all there other shows so Pokemon should be no different.

They don't advertise all of their other shows with individual previews for the next episode. That's usually for shows that they own like Adventure Time or Regular Show. Pokemon is by no means the only show that they give a general promo ad for the whole season. They even do that with some of their own shows like Ben 10, except for special events or seasons finales. Cartoon Network doesn't have as much as stake in Pokemon's ratings compared to the shows that they own completely, so that is a reason why it is treated different in terms of promotion. I think that they could do individual promos, but it doesn't really matter if they do or not.

Let's hope so. Though I wouldn't get my hopes too high...

Meh, a rating's boost couldn't hurt.

I agree that it couldn't hurt to do it, but for Cartoon Network, they might not think that it's worthwhile to give the episodes individual promos if they can get satisfying ratings now without it. It might give a slight boost for the episodes ratings, but they might be more interested in using that time for more commercials or making another promo for a show that they actually own.

Fine, but they can at least advertise pokemon from time to time lol.
