Big Time Rumors: Final Fantasy VII DS Port and Final Fantasy XIII Multi Platform

There are some big time rumors flying around that Final Fantasy VII is being ported to the DS and that Final Fantasy XIII may be going multi platform due to slow PS3 sales. I had just bought an XBOX 360 and I wouldn't mind if Final Fantasy XIII was on it and I have had a DS Lite for a while and I wouldn't mind seeing some more PSOne to DS ports. I already own Resident Evil DS which is a port of the PSOne version of the first Resident Evil game. Sony has already lost most of their 3rd party exclusives due to slow sales and these 2 releases being brought to non Sony systems could be a big shot in the foot for Sony.

Rumors about VII on the DS? I haven't heard any on that recently. Though I've heard about a Final Fantasy VII game coming to the PSP, I'm not sure it this is a remake or a spin-off, either one seems acceptable.

FFXIII going multiplatform it's possible. But since this one breaks loose next year in 2008 the PS3 should be selling a little faster due to the release of MGS4, and all of the jazz that will be released during holiday season. I can definitely see Square making it exclusively on the PS3. Or they could make it exclusive on the PS3 and 9 months later port it to the Xbox 360.

But it's still up in the air.

Either way I'm set because I have both the 360 and PS3.
 
These rumors have been around ever since the systems came out. Until any new information surfaces, there's no reason for anyone to get excited.

Though in all honesty, I expect DS remakes of IV (which is already confirmed) and V & VI (which are likely) before VII makes its way to the DS.

Waits for the inevitable "There's no way a 3-disc RPG could work on the DS" comments

considering DS carts are over a gig in capacity, and I heard that FFVII actually could've fit on an N64 cart if they didn't use so many FMVs (in fact, I recall it was originally announced as a multi-platform for both N64 and Playstation), I can't say it's impossible.

No. He was waiting for some idiotic fanboy to say it's impossible.

But as you said it's very well possible.
