Basically a small robotic device was put into the sewer in NC and it found this thing.

it could be a viral add for a movie, but it's still really gross.

What could it be?

It could be a colony of freshwater byrozoans, a colony of worms or a shelless mussel.

So why hasn't anyone tried to collect a sample from them to study? You'd think people would jump on the oppurtunity to study a "new species".

If it's a viral ad, it's a damn good one, I've seen a lot of talk about this on various boards... most of it doomsaying, really.

That's easily a stomach or intestine. Doesn't look like inside of a sewer at all.

I agree w/TTE, it looks more like a stomach with a growth of some kind. Or the large intestine maybe, looks like bile in there.

Guys the walls are clearly cement...

It's the poop people. They live!!

But seriously, it looks something like contractions as opposed to movements individually. I'd best say it is a mussel missing it's shell. Eew, gross, I was chewing gum when I watched that too...

I saw it and now I'm afraid to go spelunking again D:

holy crap! what is that thing?

It's just one of many monsters that is going to rise up about three and a half years from now and destroy all mankind.

Looked like a large amount of worms, but.....somewhat gross nonetheless.

Exactly. First the robots uprise. Then skynet awakens. Then the sewer born creatures awaken. After that from some caves in Australia the dragons will awaken and we will be fucked.

'there have been reports of the chariman of mcdonalds being overly excited as the finding could be a new ingredient in the legendary big mac'

They're a colony of tubifex worms," said Senior Project Engineer Mark Senior. "We've seen them before in sewer systems."
Senior said the video was shot "a couple of months ago" by a private contractor -- Malphrus Construction -- inspecting a private 6-inch sewer line that flushes into the city sewer system.
Since the video was posted on YouTube, and reposted around the world, his office has been fielding dozens of phone calls and e-mails.
The video is misleading, Senior said, because it was taken in a 6-inch sewer line.
"The objects are only about 1/2 inch across," he said, "They look bigger in the video."
