This is just an interesting find I did. In FireRed and LeafGreen, there is a trainer in teh Viridian gym, called Black Belt Atsushi (he's already there in RBY, but doesn't have a name yet). His pokémon are a Machop and a Machoke (both lv. 40). Nothing weird do far.

However, in RSE on the mt. Pyre, we also find a Black Belt, named Atsushi. His pokémon are Makuhita, Machoke and Hariyama (all lv. 30).

So now the question is, is he the same guy? If yes, why the travels? Why the change in pokémons? Etc. xD

(also sorry, I don't know the Japanese names of these guys, so I can't use that to proove or disproove this theory. Maybe someone else knows them though).

They're not the same person. There's a Youngster Joey in RSE with a Machop (in it's top percentage, maybe?) And I think there's a Blackbelt Nob in GSC, RSE, and HGSS.

Oh I love when the games reuse names. Leads to all kinds of hilarity. I seem to remember a Ranger Cyrus somewhere in Hoenn...And of course Sumomo the Kimono Girl who got renamed because they later used her name for a gym leader...

They seem to reuse names for the same classes a lot from what I've seen. I can't remember any others off the top of my head but when I was playing Leaf Green I did notice some names that I had seen in the other games more than once attached to the same trainer classes.

They reuse name. No need to speculate over something silly, and I mean, who would go from Kanto to Hoenn on purpose?
