For the first our speculation contests, we'd like for you all to guess what real world region or regions the Black & White versions will be modelled after.

In making your guess, we'd like for you to outline on a map the exact boundaries of the area you think will be featured. We've provided an image that we use on Bulbapedia to show the regions of the games to date, however don't feel limited to this. After all, there's no guarantee that the new games will still be situated in an analogue of Japan. ;)

Please note that you must display your guess of the region or regions as some kind of visual image. If you only give a name for the real world area, your guess will not count.

Since it's likely that many answers will be quite similar, the criteria for victory here is your accuracy. You want to not only get your boundaries right in terms of including the whole area, but you also want to make sure you don't include too much area that doesn't actually end up in the games as well.

You only need to identify the new region or regions in the game, not all the regions that may be in the game. In the event of a close tiebreak however, we'll also be looking at whoever was most accurate in predicting what old regions would or wouldn't be appearing.

Remember also, while you can discuss things and make as many guesses as you like, only your final guess counts. So if you're the 10th person to suggest the same thing, but the first 9 people changed their minds, and you didn't, then if that ended up being the right answer, you'd win.

This thread will be closed in a weeks time for our 2nd speculation contest. In the event that the information is leaked or announced before the end of that period, the thread will be closed immediately, and the closest guess before that will win. Otherwise, the winner will be decided when we actually find out what will be in the games.

The regions seem to be getting larger and as such I believe that this is the most probable location for the new region, provided it continues with the tradition of being modeled after Japan, since it is the only unused space of decent size for a main series game.

What about Fiore, Almia, Oblivia, and Orre? Why are they not outlined on the map? And what of the Orange Islands (though they have yet to appear in game)? Are they not based on Japan too?

Also, I think it will be based off the island of Shikoku, and the area near it, as it is the only main island of japan that has not had a main game based on it.

Orre is based on Arizona if I recall correctly. Fiore, Almia, and Oblivia are side games. The Orange Islands exist in anime filler and thus have nothing to do with the games.
 
I'm thinking it will be between hoenn and johto and it could be in two parts north and south because of the mainland and a island about the size of that part of the land

Well, I'm also thinking that between Johto and Hoenn is possible, because of the legendary beast's role in b/w and the possibility of RSE remakes. My boundary is a bit different than the last poster's, though.

You don't have to use that map, you can grab a world map if you think it's not in Japan.

The Orange Islands, for the record, were shown in an anime map as south of the Sevii Islands, with New Island in between them.
 
Based on screenshots and people who live in Japan, I'm guessing Shikoku.

Also, if it comes down to it, Stuntology got the same area I did, but he got it first, as I was editing my first post (which I hit submit too soon by accident)

Well, ours are kind of different; yours extends farther past the island!
 
I looked up the names of the regions. I now know that my guess is a combination of the Shikoku and Chugoku regions.

EDIT: Pretty much everybody is picking the Chugoku-Shikoku area or the area above Kanto.
