Blade found in Pokémon Valentine's Day candy: Florida dollar store pulls remaining stock

Boxes of Pokémon Valentine's Day cards have been removed from a Lakeland, Fla. Dollar General store after a piece of candy in one of the purchased boxes contained a blade, possibly from a box cutter.

What, is this some kind of attempt by one of those messed up people to say pokemon is of the devil? Ah, it's probably an accident though.

Those boxcutter blades are pretty blunt, but then again, I wouldn't lick one.

Pokemon Valentine's Day sweets XD Ah well, the whole point of Valentine's Day is just to cash

Pokemon's REALLY resurging in popularity, huh?

Kids brings a gun now this. All we need now is protest.

It looked to me like it was a factory accident, nothing necessarily sinister.

I thought about whether to post this (it is a bit sensational), but in the end I decided to so other Pokémon fans would know not to buy the candy just in case there are other blades out there.

I wasn't aware that those people worked in Chinese factories and stuff. The thing had been made in China.

Clearly this was an accident if it was in the box, with the lollipop still sealed, and the razor in the lollipop. Plus not many people on the job would bother putting a blade in candy, plus not many people carry a box cutter with them, or would open one up at a store to do this, etc. It just doesn't make sense for it to have been deliberate all around, though it's weird how a blade got in it in the first place.

^ Just for clarification. I hadn't been aware when I read the article here that the product had both cards AND candy, so there was a bit of confusion for me.

I remember getting the same kind of Pokemon Valentine's and Cards last year (though instead of Sinnoh Pokemon, it had Pokemon from Hoenn).

I loved how they used artwork from the anime, and the fact they had Ash on the cards was just awesome!! XD

But anyway, I have to agree with Argy and Ralli on this one. It was probably just an accident.

I wish I could've got a box of those Valentine's though (before the incident occurred). Not for the candy, but for the Ash card. ^^;

Have you actually used a box cutter? At my work, we use them often, and I've seen many people have to be taken to the hospital to get stitches when they get cut with one. And I myself have lost feeling in my thumb when I was cut by one.

Unless Chinese lollipop factories are different from American ones, then this was probably just an accident. The blade probably fell into the batch of candy before it was hardened and no one inspected it before shipping.

Heh. I still want the cards though.

I have, actually. But then again, maybe my workplace just doesn't sharpen it very often. Or at all.

I've never cut myself with it though, but I have checked how sharp it is by running my finger along the blade. I've seen biros that are sharper then the box cutter I use.

I know, right? It feels like the year 2000 again.

OMG... The Pokemon is an EVIL franchise.

They even hide blades in candies for kids to kill other people and/or themselves, thus promoting the satanic emo culture...

The Pokemon is evil! It must be annihilated!

Yahoo's reporting that there was another one with a staple inside.

That's sort of skirting "Whoops, what a horrible accident!" right into the zone of "This factory is ran by deficient chimps and should probably be shut down".
