I love this anime. It rules. I'm surprised there isn't a thread for it here.
 
Heck yeah!

I never noticed that there was no thread about Bleach.
I love the show, but I can't stand the dub of it. Those voices are sooo annoying.
 
I think the dub is unbelievably underrated, if not hated. What's wrong with it? The voices all fit. The music and opening/ending themes are kept totally intact. No changes are made to the story or characters, as far as I know. I've seen people complain that Ichigo's name "just sounds wrong" when written with the family name last. o.o The only major flaw I see in it (it being the dub, not the show itself) is that it seems to use words like "damn", "hell", and "bastard" every few seconds. I mean, I curse like a sailor and don't find anything wrong with bad words, but it seems like almost every single line is littered with them at times. ;)

But anyways. I like Bleach, it's fun. Wish it would return to Adult Swim sometime soon. Does anyone know if there's a time frame for the dub's return?
 
wait.... you mean people are actually complaining about the dub? Maybe some of those hardcore "dubs suck ass because they're not the original and therefor not even worth my time of day" people, but I hardly see how that'd be enough to make the dub underrated (seeing as such people will hate on pretty much any dub by default).
 
The dub is pretty high-quality compared to others, and personally, I don't find anything wrong with them; but of course, this will change in due time, since they arn't even close to introducing all of the characters yet.

Mmm, true. I don't hang around Bleach forums of any sort, but it seems like half the people I know (online of offline) that watch the subs despise the dub. o.o; Maybe I'm just talking with the wrong people?
 
The problem i that all dub that catch heat have their anger misplaced. By the unrated versions. They are closer the real problem is the network. Thise idiots try to destroy the anime becauses they are ordered to by a bunch of uptight pencil pushing pricks.
 
I find Bleach to be insanely interesting, and has found it's way onto my list of favourite animes. I havn't watched many episodes yet, but it seems good. And, yes, I agree with them cursing too much. It just seems like they want to make the show more adult, but doesn't the blood already do that in a way?

It seems to have about as much as I'd expect. For one Ichigo is a punk, occasionally they seem to make him be polite to older people for no reason (which seems completely out of character, maybe only the anime does this...), but he seems like he is a rude and odd character meant to stand out among Japanese people. The other is that it doesn't seem like any more cussing than any other Shonen Jump series...

I don't know, I think the dub is pretty good. Probably the best dub Viz has done, actually, and they have pretty good dubs. I just wonder why it isn't as popular as something like Naruto.

Though for my thoughts on the series.. I don't know.. it still feels kind of generic for me, with people often fighting for no reason. It's fun to watch, but I don't think I can say it's my favorite show. Right now, still, the only real interesting character is Ichigo (with the idea of a main hero being good and evil), that may change as spoilers seem to show that
Orihime
may become more an interesting character, but who knows. I still like the artstyle a lot, and sense it started to be serialized in the US SJ I've been getting back into the Manga, and I can see why I liked it when it first started: The Rock /Pop culture art style is really cool, for me that will keep this series memorable, and the timing seems a little more fun.

I'm not sure I generally like the Manga better than Anime, but I guess it's similar (or opposite to) the reasons people like books better than the movie counterparts in general.
 
Bleach is yay. It started airing here several weeks ago and I find myself extremely disappointed whenever I manage to miss an episode. It's so fun and interesting. What I really like about it is that the hero is so different. Ichigo may be all gruff and angry-looking, but he's such a kind person in his nature and he's so much more perceptive and intelligent than most shounen heroes... it never fails to amaze me. Shounen heroes fall into stereotypes easily, and it's refreshing to see one that doesn't. And a lot of the other characters are really fun. *likes Hanatarou and Toshiro <3*
 
I know he can fall into multiple categories. Also he has a sudden Yuskue quality from Yu Yu Hakusho. He doesn't raise a flag and shout hey I'm the heronright there. You have to watch him grow into the role. Something that is very rarely done right.
 
Eh, I can't get into it either. The art is nice, but I just haven't grabbed on to it yet.
 
I enjoy Bleach. The characters are all interesting, I just don't like when it breaks off into ridiculous fillers. It's even got the "bad guy becomes good guy" thing in it in a couple places.



Some of the characters are just...funny.



I'm not sure why I like it, but I do.
 
I love Bleach to pieces. It has so many characters that it's impossible for the show to become boring even if it is bloated with fillers! I like the sub and the dub about equally (even if Mayuri's voice in the dub does drive me insane...then again if any character ends up driving someone crazy it might as well be that nut-job).

As for swearing, I've actually found it to be toned DOWN in the dub. The English version does use words like "damn" and "bastard" quite a bit, but in the sub I've seen more "severe" cursing with words like "shit" and "bitch." For a good example of this, watch the episode where Ishida fights Mayuri and compare what he calls Nemu in the sub and the dub...quite a difference in intensity!

Overall though, I don't have a problem with the swearing...if I had to fight an Arrancar or Gotei 13 captian I'm sure my language would be just as bad, if not worse lol!

PS-Sorry to be a fangirl, but Ukitake's hot as hell. That is all.

which sub did you watch, by the way? Personally, I was sticking with Lunar subs up until they quit near the beginning of the anime filler arc due to the license, at which point I made the switch to Dattebayo! (is anyone besides them even subbing Bleach right now?).

I miss Lunar's version of Bleach... on the swearing thing, they dropped a couple F-bombs XD (I remember Renji calling Ichigo a dumb fuck at some point during their first encounter). It was also pretty interesting how they translated Shinigami as "Death God" (which is actually quite accurate).

And the way you can translate swear words is iffy. So iffy that most fansubs and real releases tend to pick which swear to translate it too based off of the intensity of the acting. By that I mean, most of the times a fansub translates something as 'shit' or 'fuck' it isn't really 'shit' or 'fuck'. (actually, I think some just put that in to make it seem cooler)

I'm about 99% sure it was Lunar (I'll ask my friend to be sure though, she's the one who has it) for the earlier ones...I havn't gotten through all of the filler arc yet; I've been tending to skip around a great deal lately.
