I was playing pokemon blue on my gameboy advance sp, saved, quit, came back like 10 mins later and everything was normal. However, after I saved and went to bed,the next day when I checked it, all data was lost....:saiyan::dumb::complain:
is this normal, do I have to buy a original gameboy to save for more then ten mins, and what caused this to happen, (I lost all of my progress)
also, has this ever happened to you?

well, Blue is old. It could be that the cartridge just gave out.

Blue version along with red and yellow have save batteries like GSC.

When the battery dies the save is deleted the same way.

It just took longer for them since they didn't have a clock. I think if I remember correctly it could die anywhere from 10 to 15 years dependng on use.

Your lucky if it last 20 years.

Pokemon RB were released over 10 years ago. Shouldn't come as a surprise that the batteries are starting to go especially if you play them on and off.

got as a gift from friend like a week ago........so it's new to me......do you think I should still play it and leave it on?

You have my sympathy; my Crystal recently died. (RIP Red Gyarados)

You can get the battery recharged. Go to close by game outlet. They will either know were to get it done or do it themself. It doesn't cost much.

Damn, happened on my Gold as well.
R.I.P Ampharos :(

Don't worry, I'm sure when HGSS comes out, you'll be pre-occupied for a long time.

Thanks.

thanks for advice and sympathy, the only reason I wanted this game was so I could get two lv. 7 mews and a lv. 255 missingno
it was fun while it lasted, maybe when I go get shiny pichu I will ask the gamestop guy to fix it.

same thing happened to me

1) go to radioshack or ebay a buy a cr2025 battery
2) open up cartridge (use a bobby pin or something)
3) take out previous battery *KEEP YELLOW WRAPPER THING*
4) *TAKE YELLOW WRAPPER AND WRAP IT AROUND THE NEW BATTERY* IF YOU DON'T DO THIS, YOUR GAME COULD SHORT CURCUIT AND CATCH ON FIRE!
5) put in new battery- there should be two metal strips- one goes on the bottom, one on the top. use tape to insure that the strips and batteries stay in contact *YOUR GAME WILL ERASE*
6) close up game and enjoy

i did this myself, it does work

Thanks for the advice Jorge, that's useful stuff.

What I would do before putting a game away or replacing the batteries or whatnot would be to upload all the Pokemon to Stadium or Stadium 2- since the N64 handled saving differently, it lasts much longer. It's not as good as having everything in game but at least you can get your dream team back if you mess up the battery swap or need to buy a new cart.

SECONDED. My entire Silver game and most of my Crystal is on Pokemon Stadium 2... and I back up teams in first gen when I start new games. Tis a lifesaver!

(i seriously have n64-less friends begging for me to deposit their 2nd gen pokemon into pokemon stadium.)

I have tried to to get the thing to save for an hour now, stupid battery!!!!!!!!!!
I can't seem to get it to work.........
that was a waste of my time and $11

What exactly have you done so far? It shouldn't take an hour to install. Did you hit a kink in installation or do you mean you've spent an hour trying to save?

I wish I could have done this but I didn't know they could die. :(
