Ok, this is going to be one HELL of a year for Marvel fans, and with a NUMBER of large characters dead or on the chopping block, I decided to start a list of the deaths for this year for characters that are named (i.e., skipping the random unnamed deaths). The first one I list MAY have been last year, but if so, he was close enough to 2006 for me to throw him in. I'm also going to, if I know it, list the issue they died in, for sake of reference.

616/Main Marvel Universe Line
1. Banshee - X-Men: Deadly Genesis #2 (confirmed in #3...with body)
2. Foggy Nelson - Daredevil #82 (issue number supplied by Lil Brother) (confirmed in Daredevil #83 with gravestone)*
3. Tag - New X-Men #23 (confirmed in #24 with gravestone), and a number of the other de-powered students went with him, most unnamed
4. Guardian - New Avengers #16
5. Sasquatch - New Avengers #16
6. Vindicator - New Avengers #16
7. Shaman - New Avengers #16
8. Puck (Zuzha Yu) - New Avengers #16
9. Puck (Eugene Judd) - New Avengers #16
10. Major Mapleleaf - New Avengers #16
11. DJ - New X-Men #23 (confirmed in #24 with scene of death)
12. Jazz - X-Men: 198 #3
13. All of the Nova Corps, minus Richard Rider (Earth's Nova). No specifically noteworthy characters, but it's really equivacal to the Green Lantern Corps being decimated.
14. Professor (the one who was involved in the creation of Sentry) - Sentry #7
15. Nathaniel Briggs (one of the Sentinel Squad pilots) - X-Men: Deadly Genesis #5.
16. Air-Walker/Gabriel android - Annihilation: Silver Surfer #1. Yeah, I know he's an android and can be rebuilt, but it was still a death.
17. 8-Ball - Daughters of the Dragon #2
18. Coldheart - Civil War #1
19. Speedfreak - Civil War #1
20. Cobalt Man - Civil War #1
21. Namorita - Civil War #1
22. Sway - X-Men: Deadly Genesis #6 (it's confirmed here)
23. Petra - X-Men: Deadly Genesis #6 (again, it's confirmed here)
24. Mercator - X-Men: 198 #5
25. Wallflower - New X-Men #25 (yep...she's definitely dead)
26. Unus (Son of M #6)
27. Microbe - Civil War #1
28. Night Thrasher - Civil War #1
29. William Stryker - New X-Men #27
30. Quill - New X-Men #27
31. Icarus - New X-Men #26
32. Bantam - Civil War: Front Line #3
33. Super-Skrull - Annihilation: Super-Skrull #4*
34. Preak - Annihilation: Super-Skrull #4
35. R'Kin - Annihilation: Super-Skrull #4
36. Admiral Salo (commander of the Harvester of Sorrow) - Annihilation: Super-Skrull #4
37. Quasar - Annihilation: Nova #4
38. Ikaris - Eternals #2
39. Arsenic/Gertrude Yorke - Runaways #18
40. Tana Nile - Annihilation: Ronan #4
41. Bill Foster - Civil War #4
42. Stardust - Annihilation #3
43. Red Shift - Annihilation #3
44. Digitek - Civil War: Front Line #6

*Super-Skrull and Foggy Nelson have since been revealed to still be alive, or come back to life in some mysterious way.

Ultimate Line Death List:

1. Black Widow - Ultimates 2 #10 (as submitted by Lil Brother)

Foggy was attacked at the end of Daredevil #82, original numbering [HASHTAG]#462[/HASHTAG]. But God knows if he'll actually die, since Matt thought "His heart is still beating" three times. Although if he does live, it'll have to be one odd explination of why an upcoming (or is it out already?) cover having his gravestone.

We don't know if Alpha Flight is dead or not. They're beaten up pretty badly, yeah. But ignoring Hil's comment of them being "down", there's nothing outright saying "They're dead! Screw you, Aplha Flight fans."

Preview for that ish of Daredevil mentioned him dying, so I thought he did. Of course...it's Marvel, so I don't know WHY I believe anything they say anymore. I'm going to assume he's dead, though. Why? Just easier that way. Plus, it makes me look less wrong.

As for Alpha Flight...I'm assuming they're dead until later. Quesada, Bendis, and all of them have never even HINTED that they might be dead. They've talked about a relaunch, but that's it (and there are STILL enough Alpha members alive to create a team, added with the fact that they've said that this would be a good year for Northstar fans, it leads me to believe he'll return leading a new Alpha team).

added with the fact that they've said that this would be a good year for Northstar fans

It better damn well be since they killed him off three times in one month last year.

Is this counting the Ultimate line? If so, Ultimate Black Widow was killed in Ultimates 2 #10.

I'll add Black Widow now, but you guys that actually read the Ultimate stuff will have to keep me up to date on the death count there.

Gotta make a quick double post responding to this quote using a quote from Joe Quesada himself:

Joe Quesada on Newsarama said:
JQ: Thanks for reminding me, Defunct! I would look for Northstar to appear in Mike Carey and Chris Bachalo’s X-Men

Not trying to be a thorn, but in interview, Mike Marts says that "Also—please know that all of Alpha Flight haven’t actually died." He probably means there are leftover characters outside of that Avengers ish, but who knows? :P

And I just remembered that Ultimate Mad Thinker (supposebly) died in that Ultimate Fantastic Four/X-Men one-shot. Thank God.

And yay for Northstar returning to X-Men status.

He IS referring to the characters not seen in that issue. There's Earthmover, Northstar, Aurora, Madison Jeffries, Man-Bot, Wolverine (he's an X-Man AND an Avengers, so why not one more team?), Groundhog, Stitch (I THINK she's still alive), Talisman, Feedback, Manikin, Wyre, Wild Child (although he's depowered), Diamond Lil, Marrina (they've STILL yet to resolve anything since she was last glimpsed alive in one of the Master of the World's bases), Snowbird, Windshear, Yukon Jack, Flex, Radius, Murmur, Mar, Witchfire, and Persuasion (who DOES still have her powers). So there's still PLENTY left to form a team or two. Including many of the members seen when the team first debuted. Plus, if you look at the image from New Avengers, they ALL have their eyes open, many have their mouths open, and many have massive amounts of blood coming from areas that would be an easy sign of death (i.e., Vindicator has a HUGE pool coming from her head). Of course, this is comics, and death means jack, but I'm willing to bet that they're dead for now.

Bumping this back up because of big deaths in this week's stuff, and some more are coming next week.

Laurie/Wallflower in New X-Men #25. *breaks into tears*

EDIT: 100th post. Squee~

I'm not ready to put that one down until I see #26 (comes out next week). With a healer right next to her, she could survive, no matter HOW unlikely. Although, I will admit, it IS about a 99% probability (death is). So...I dunno...I just want more certainty. Even if death is stalking the New X-Men like it used to stalk the New Mutants.

Alright, I'm bumping this back up because of a number of big deaths, and the fact that we've reached 31 so far (if I'm missing any, let me know). Onyx MIGHT be dead, but he was still speaking in the last panel he was seen, so I'm assuming the best. Quill wasn't SHOWN dead, but...I'd say it's a given.

Gosh, they're doing the best to kill every mutant under the age of 25, aren't they?

I'm glad they finally killed off Icarus, though. He was a mini, emoer version of Angel. Which we really don't need and who always pissed me off - in terms of character.

Horrible thought - Quill will merge with the disembodied spirit of Quentin and fuse into the movie version of Kid Omega.

Well, Kid Omega WAS a player in the last Phoenix mini-series, and there IS another one coming. And with Phoenix always representing resurrection...

Yeah, Quiltin gets ressurected by the Pheonix force as a psionic porcupine that leads a street gang. Makes sense to me. At least when it comes to creators seeing something in a movie they thought was cool and then trying to write it into the comics.

Quill! ;_;

We did see him dead. On page 21, he was on a stretcher and they put a sheet over his entire body. :/

I love Icarus. He was actually the only reason I started getting New X-Men in the first place. I quickly fell in love with the others, but Jay's a soft spot for me. Now he's a traitor and a corpse. x.x

Onyxx is alive, Emma said he and Sam were in "ctricial condition", term for "will be lying a bed for a few issues then magicly heal off-panel". I'm way more concerned for Josh now.

I hate Gambit's team and Ernst. But none of them have died yet! >:O

Really, what's with ish 27? Cannonball, Quill, Nori, Hellion, and David all get shot. X-23, Laurie, and Icarus got shot in the last two months. Emma got a knife wound. Onyxx was attacked by Nimrod's arm thing. Stryker was "de-healed" and killed. I spent the entire issue screaming "He's dead! She'd dead! They're dead! Now he's dead!" XD It was absolutely ridiculous and seemed like a prody of what the series is now, if anything. But in a good way. Also Forge not going to Storm's wedding was a very nice touch.

If Kid Omega/Quill comes true I will go stabby on someone.

Bumping this back up because of some more major deaths. I think I left someone out, but I'll add them later if I did.
