I decided to purchase all 10 Pokémon games to play on my DS Lite a few week ago.

I bought:
-Diamond, Pearl and Platinum at BestBuy
-FireRed, LeafGreen, Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald on eBay (none of them bootlegs :-D)
-And I'll buy HeartGold and SoulSilver when they are released

One problem however, the battery of Ruby is dead. The eBay seller said he'd take it back but my question is, should I care about it or not?

First of all, is it possible to bring a dead GBA battery back to life by leaving it in my DS Lit while it's on?

If not, besides the berry issue and some little events, what am I missing? Will miss the chance to capture night or day Pokémons?

Thank you

Send it back. You would need to buy a new battery, so your costs would be Game+Battery which does not equal Game

You didn't quite answer my question regarding the usefulness of the battery.

Chances are its a bootleg because I think Nintendo used flash memory in their GBA pokemon games. (i might be wrong)

The battery (in the GBA games) is for the internal clock and no, they're not pirated, I can tell the difference.

Oh I was gonna say the bootleg copys of leaf green I got all had batteries in them and legit copies don't.

But now that I think about it leaf green and fire red don't use the clock.

Yup, Fire and Leaf are more oldschool, prefer them that way. Seriously, berries, breathing, night & day, these are just bells and whistles.

You aren't missing much, except Zangoose and a couple other pokemon. Really, just get a different copy if it means that much to you.

If your Ruby has a dead battery, there's no time function, and so your only problem is no Shoal Cave tides and no berry growth. Only bad if you REALLY need a Shell Bell and a Milotic, which can be easily gotten as long as Sapphire and Emerald's batteries work.

Of course, you say "all ten games", referring to RSEFRLGDPPtHGSS. You missed RBYGSC, though. All means 16, not just the 10 currently intercompatible.

And the night and day function is only present in GSC, DPPt, and HGSS, so no need to worry.

Replace the battery ? Cant you just unscrew the game in the back and pop open the case and replace it. Lithium batterys dont cost much

They're all important, guess I'll have to get another one

Well that's what I said:

Also, in my book, remakes pretty much replace the originals. I will buy HeartGold and SoulSilver, leaving only a missing remake of Crystal. And yes, I know I'm leaving Yellow out, but that game was a joke meant only to attract fans of that Goddamn Anime that simply refuses to die :bash:

I'd probably just brake it, not good with these sort of things.

There are tutorials on the netz about how to replace a battery either for your classic pokemon games or Gen III games, it is not hard, I could even replace dead batteries on bootleg games (my country has too many, the last one was a Castlevania AoS), if your Ruby version is legit the battery is easier to replace if I recall.

Good Luck

BTW, I currently have RSE+FRLG, I am planning to get DPPt and HGSS...
