Tournament Information
This tournament will be conducted using a round-robin format. This means that you will be facing against all of the other participants of the tournament. This format allows a more balanced way of pairing competitors as it's not set in stone who you will be facing. There is no limit on the number of people that can enter, but six participants is the bare minimum. In addition if people want, the tournament can be a 'double round-robin' variant, in which players play each other twice as a rematch. Prizes will be announced at the start of the tournament.
Tournament Guidelines
- Please follow all of the forum rules when participating in this tournament.
- EV training is not required for participation, but is highly recommended.
- The default method of battling is via Wi-Fi. Each battle will be Singles, set to Level 100. Voice Chat can be turned on or off depending on your preferences.
- Please do not use this thread as a way to contact your opponent. Sending a message via Private Message, Visitor Message, or another messaging method will always be more useful.
- Try to not cheat or use illegal Pokémon. If you are found to have cheated or used illegal Pokémon, you will be given a loss and may be considered for expulsion from the tournament.
- Do not try to disconnect to avoid a loss. It shows lack of sportsmanship and, if proven intentional, cause penalties on your part.
- Respect your opponents' teams and refrain from revealing any information regarding their moveset and items, as it gives the opponent a disadvantage when facing other participants.
- Once a battle has concluded, please report the results of the battle, along with you and your opponent's name. For the result to be accepted, both sides must confirm it.

- Sleep Clause: Only one Pokémon in each side can be asleep at any given time. This excludes the effects of the move Rest and ability Effect Spore.
- Species Clause: Only one of each Pokémon with the same National Pokédex number can be used in each team. Pokémon from the same evolution family but have different National Pokédex numbers can be used. (Ex. Porygon2 and Porygon-Z can be used in the same team)
Team Information
- Your team will consist of up to nine Pokémon. Each round, you are to choose six that you will use for that round; you cannot switch Pokémon between rounds in case of a disconnection or Wi-Fi error.
- Item clause is not in effect; you are allowed to use duplicates of items that you see fit.
- Latias is allowed but only if she is not holding a Soul Dew; any team with a Soul Dew Latias will be disqualified.
- Rotom's new formes are allowed in the tournament.
- The Battle Shuffle will implement the idea of "Usage Points", which will encourage use of lower tier Pokémon while not penalizing any OUs. (Read below for more)
Usage Points
As mentioned, Usage Points is an experimental method that will allow UUs and NUs to be used without needing to ban OUs. Each participant will be given 5 Usage Points (UP) to use in creating their nine-member team. In order to use higher-tier Pokémon, one must spend UP to allow use of that specific Pokémon. Any UP not used will be converted to Leaderboard Points (LP), which determines their standings as the tournament progresses. The list of OU Pokémon cost is as follows:
3 UP
2 UP:
1 UP:
Leaderboard Information
As the Battle Shuffle progresses, participants will gain LP from battling against other participants. One will always accumulate LP provided they battle. The winner gets 3 LP added to their cumulative score, and the loser gets 1 LP. If the battle ends in a tie, both players get 2 LP. The more 'battle shuffles' you make, the more chances you have to take the leadership. At the conclusion of the Battle Shuffle, the LP are tallied up and the top three (may increase if this becomes large) participants will be awarded prizes, ranging from useful hold items to competitive play-ready Pokémon.
When challenging someone, one should refer to the registration post for their opponent's Friend Code and, if needed, their team lineup. However, one must keep in mind that the opponent has three extra Pokémon that they are allowed to use, so don't go basing their team off the first six members.
Registration - CLOSED
The Battle Shuffle will start on August 22, 2009, or if there's not enough members, when six participants are registered. To register, please post your information according to this format:
