Shaymin probably means Darkrai, too. :D (Hopefully.)

Trainer's not gonna appear on some stages? Darn, I wanted to see him run around and do more than just stand there.

Shaymin... wtf. o.o Didn't see that coming.

It's about this time of year that the full title for the summer's Pokemon movie is revealed anyway (and thus the titular Pokemon), so Shaymin could be announced for next month really.

I'm awaiting confirmation for Shaymin. I find it odd my source didnt mention it and that it'll be shown in the US almost a year before its likely to be revealed there and so it doesnt seem likely

but this is smash... expect the unexpected mate. ;-)

Theres expect the unexpected and then theres the just plain illogical

Maybe you will only be able to release it from a Poke Ball after a certain date for the US release. That seems logical. ;) After all, the game is supposed to last for years, so they have to use as much future material as possible. It won't be too big of a deal if it is in there from the get go anyways since people probably won't even know what it is.

Its entirely possible and likely that Shaymin will at least be a pokeball pokemon. The popularity of the Wii, coupled with the cult success of the smash series and the nature of pokemon, i'd say that the synergy is there for a fantastic marketing opportunity.

And its not like it'd be a huge effort for Nintendo to time lock his release would it?

Yeah, Shaymin should be revealed in a few months, anyways, for the next movie.

Perhaps that, although the data is there, it'll need to be activated through WiiConnect24 following the revelation of Shaymin?

A fantastic marketing opportunity? Try a fast-paced one; it won't help anyone get familiarized with Shaymin. Ultimately, it won't make much of a difference, and what difference is needed in the first place from the normal way of introducing a Pokémon?

Next month, if to be exact.

If the report is to believed, Shaymin was seen in a demo version of the game, at a time when it has yet to be officially revealed. The "damage" has been done - isn't it ridiculous to discuss how to limit its appearance in the actual game?

Unless you were referring to its inclusion in non-Japanese versions, in which case case it would be easier to simply omit the data altogether. It is hardly as if a respective portion of the 493 Pokémon will be included as to the point where removing one is unthinkable (unlike in Mystery Dungeon 2, though that certainly didn't prevent it from happening). This game may have a longer lifetime than Mystery Dungeon's, but it has a lot less to do with Pokémon.

Showcasing a Pokémon one month ahead of time is forgivable (certainly not intentional, as it achieves nothing), but once that period of time is extended (for non-Japanese players), the data had best be removed.
