I finally was able to buy a genuine Pokemon game (got myself LeafGreen). Anyway, i have searched for a more in depth article for Breeding but haven't had the luck of finding one.

I'm wondering, for example i breed a Venusaur with a Ditto, what would i get? The 1st state(bulbasaur) or the same pokemon?(venusaur) . Currently i'm avoiding my Bulbasaur to evolve into an Ivysaur because of this.
 
You will get an egg that hatches into a level 5 Pokémon at its starting form. So you'll get a Bulbasaur.
 
Ah i see. So that means, that if i breed a pokemon with no starting form (ex. Lickitung) i just get the same pokemon but is level 5?.
