Hey. I'm not sure if I should put this elsewhere (like in the Simple Questions thread or whatnot), but since there is a lot to this, I started a new thread. Anyway, onward to my questions.
I consider myself a good Breeder, especially in Gen IV, but I've noticed some odd things. First, I'll start with my Platinum. I had received a female Eevee from Bebe, and I evolved it into a Leafeon. Then, since I knew it was female, I bred it with a compatible male Buizel. I got about eight Eggs out of them. According to the wiki, it says that the Pokemon hatched is determined by the mother, as will the gender. However, this is where it got interesting. All the Eggs I got turned out to be male Eevees. Now, this got me confused. According to the Wiki site, all the Eevees should've been female, but they were all male instead. I figured it was because of Eevee's 7;1 ratio of male:female, but still, the Wiki says otherwise. Is this odd? Now, moving on to HeartGold and SoulSilver.
I caught a female Murkrow in the Safari Zone that had the Ability Insomnia. I bred it with a male Flying-type (I believe it was a Golbat or Pidgeotto). I also gave it an Everstone so the offspring would have Insomnia. But it got strange again. I got one male Egg and one female Egg. The male had Super Luck while the female had Insomnia. This situation happened again with my Aerodactyl. I still got a male Aerodactyl, but instead of Pressure (which is why I gave it an Everstone), I got Rock Head, which I can't really do too much with. This has happened a lot of times with me.
Now, according to the wiki, if you use an Everstone with one of the parents, that ability and whatnot will be transferred over. This proved true, as my Kabuto had the exact Nature, Characteristic, and Ability as his parent had, but this proved false with Aerodactyl, who got a different Nature, Characteristic, and Ability than his parent, despite the Everstone. Again, this proved false with the Murkrow I bred, getting two different genders and two different Abilities, along with two different Natures and Characteristics.
Now, Bulbapedia says that the gender of the offspring is always female unless it's a male parent with a Ditto. However, when I bred a male Togetic with a female one, I got a male Togepi. Again, I figured that it was because of Togepi's 7:1 male/female ratio, but I'm still puzzled.
I'm beginning to suspect that the rules of breeding are a bit more than even the wiki states. It can't be my games, because it happened to both my Platinums and both HeartGold and SoulSilver. The Wiki stats otherwise, but I got different results (not that I'm complaining, mind you, just puzzled). Any one care to help clear this up for me? Thanks in advance.
