Okay, I tried to write this before, and lost, but I promise I'll do better this time. The first chap. is just like the first time around, but this time I'm gonna keep going.

I own nothing.
=================================
"Brendan!" Professor Birch said into his Pokenav. "Join me in the field; I think you'll like what's going on." Brendan said okay, but rolled his eyes. He put his Mudkip, Tide in his Pokeball; then went to the desk in his room and got ready.

"Let's see... Pokeballs, bag, Pokedex, Potions..." Sensing another presence, Brendan jumped. Looking over, he saw that the intruder was a girl. "Hey!" He yelped "Who are you?"

"May Haruka." The girl replied calmly. She was rather pretty, if you asked Brendan. She had long, light-brown Spoinktails, and baby-blue eyes. "Haruka?" Brendan repeated the familar name. "Oh! You're Norman Haruka's daughter! Moved in next-door, right?"

May nodded, her eyes cool. She obviously didn't like being first recongnised as Norman Haruka's daughter. Brendan noticed his mistake, and tried to repair it. "I'm just suprised, ya see. My dad, Professor Birch said the new neighbor was a Gym Leader's kid, so I assumed you'd be a guy."

Big mistake. May's eyes flashed dangerously, and leaned towards him with an angry look on her face. "Oh! So being a Gym Leader's child means I shouldn't be a girl, Whitehead?" Boy, was she mad!

Just as Brendan was about to reply, Tide let himself out. "Hey, a Pokemon!" May cooed. She squated down to pet him. "Your Mudkip's adorable!" Brendan nodded in response. Then May said "I wish I had a Pokemon!"

"You don't?" Brendan asked incredously. May shook her head. Brendan felt sorta bad for her. Bad-tempered or not, he was starting to like this girl and be entertained by her. So, he offered "Do ya want me to catch one for ya?" Talking of catching Pokemon reminded him...

"Darn! I'll haf'ta help you some other time, May; I forgot about helping my dad!" He headed out, but when he got there, his dad wasn't anywhere in sight. Running his hand through his spiky white hair, he walked out to the route past Oldale Town.

Tide was on his shoulder, and he was muttering to himself, when he yet again felt that someone was near him. Again, he turned and saw May. He also saw that she had a Torchic on her shoulder. "Oh hi, May." He said cheerily, trying to make peace. May didn't look apeased, and rolled her eyes.

"Hello again, Whitehead." She said dryly. Now, Brendan was starting to get irked. "You've got a Pokemon now, Miss Gym Leader's Kid?" He asked. She nodded, and Brendan said "Then I challenge you to a battle!"

Two updates in one day! W00t!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We all know who owns Pokemon, and we all know it isn't me.
===============================================

Brendan watched May change. (Not like that, minds outta the gutter, perverts) Her posture straightened, and her face lit up, eyes shining. Brendan thought that, surrounded by the trees and long grass of the route they were on, she could pass for a nymph or a dryad. Her Torchic leapt off her shoulder and chirruped at Tide, who did a frontflip off of Brendan’s shoulder and onto the ground in response. “Flamey use Scratch!” May called out.

“Tide, Growl!” Brendan countered. Unfortunately, Flamey got there first. Tide used Growl, as he'd been told. “Scratch again!” May shouted. The attack was super-effective, as it was close-range. Brendan was surprised. For someone who was just starting as a Trainer, May was good. “Hey, you are Norman Haruka’s kid.” Brendan muttered, then called out “Tide, use Tackle!” “Focus Energy!” May yelled at the same time.

After Tackle hit, Brendan watched. Desperately, he searched his mind for what Focus Energy did, but he just couldn’t remember. “Tackle again!” He said, finally. Even when her Pokemon was hit, Brendan saw the corners of May’s mouth twitch upward. “Flamey, Scratch!”

“Tide, no!” Brendan howled as his Pokemon fainted. He looked at the girl looking at him with an almost smug expression. “Hey May, you’re not too shabby.” “Thank you, Brendan.” She said with a smile. Brendan nearly fainted.

He had no idea that a simple battle could change her attitude towards him. It was the fist time she’d used his name. He hadn’t even known that she knew his name. And she was bloody freakin’ gorgeous when she smiled. Oh, go away, hormones. Brendan thought irritably. “I’m goin’ back to my Dad’s Lab.” He managed to blurt out. “May, you should come, too.”

He darted off. Even when he heard May calling for him to wait up, he just kept going. Finally, he reached the Lab. “Where’s the fire, Bren?” Professor Birch joked. Brendan was too busy catching his breath to respond. A few minutes later, May showed up. Professor Birch was talking to her, but Brendan was too busy looking at May to listen.

That is, until May was handed a Pokedex. “Well, I guess you’ll be needing these, then.” Brendan said, handing her five Pokeballs he didn’t need. Both of them shivered, though it wasn’t cold, and May said quickly. “Thank you, Professor. Be seeing you, Brendan!” Then she left.

Wow, one of my first battle scences. And yes, I know it sucked; you don't have to tell me that. We also have some BrendanXMay, because it's near-immosiple for me to write a fic with no romance.

1, 2, 3, 4, YOU KNOW WHAT THE BUTTON'S FOR!!!

And, see? It's right down there:

Ehm... I think you're posting chapters a bit too quickly.

I fell under the same trap at the Serebii forums and only one person read my fic and posted comments.

Well, the first chapter is just like the first chapter from when I first tried to write this story, so I wanted to get the 2nd one out there.
