Sorry if a similar one exists. I have noticed now that Brock and Ash don't really use their older pokemon anymore (exclude pikachu who has been there since the start), we don't see charizard, torkoal, snorlax, kingler, tododile, heracross, muk or much others anymore except pokemon caught in the region they are in. (minus apiom, but that was given to Dawn)

I would like to see a few older pokemon return like bulbasaur. I loved bulbasaur and I would like to see swellow return, but since Ash caught a starley which evolved, that would be used instead, maybe even see Donphan return for a while, lets not just have region caught pokemon being used, why don't they show pokemon caught before being used for a while or are Ashes previous caught pokemon going to be always in Professor Oaks care?

Ash has used all his old Pokemon again after the region they were caught in except for the Johto starters + Noctowl.

Bulbasaur, Squirtle and Charizard make comebacks all the time, they're his most used team. Kingler/Muk/Tauros got used again in Johto and Tauros again in BF, Snorlax/Heracross were used in Johto and AG, Phanpy came back for Battle Frontier, and Ash's Hoenn Pokemon got plenty of screentime.

I'm sure towards the end of DP we'll see his Kanto and Hoenn Pokemon used again. The Johto team feels like its been forgotten, but he'll use Heracross and Donphan again I'm sure.

Basically if you're not part of the four Pokemon Johto team, Ash will probably use you again. I barely even remember Ash's Johto team anymore because it felt like they were never there to begin with. They got very little screentime and it feels like Ash never did much with them. It didn't help matters that the writers literally abandoned them in favor of his more popular Kanto Pokemon toward the end of Johto.

They should give Heracross a 5th Gen evolution. The writers will have no choice but to bring Heracross back!

What the hell are you smoking?

Heracross is the very last Pokémon that should receive an evolution. Here's what Smogon has to say about it:

With his massive Attack stat and high powered STAB moves, Heracross is a huge threat to any team. Several of his counters from the previous generation can be destroyed if they switch in on the wrong move. Salamence and Gyarados only had to worry about the fairly weak Rock Slide, but now they face Stone Edge with its higher base power and high critical hit chance. Skarmory gets 2HKOed by a Choice Banded Close Combat or OHKOed by the same attack after a Swords Dance and with a Life Orb boost. However, Heracross is not invincible. UnSTABed Aerial Aces can bring him down with ease and he has few useful resistances. His Ground resistance is most welcome, but despite this powerful STABed Earthquakes from the likes of Garchomp can 2HKO him. All things considered, Heracross is one of the most fearsome physical threats in the game.

Does this sound like a Pokémon that needs an evolution? You may as well be asking for an evolution of a legendary.

Rhydon sure as hell didn't need an evolution. I agree that Heracross is an awesome Pokemon. That's why I want him back on Ash's team!

Rhydon was almost as slow as Shuckle and couldn't take an attack to save its life. Its evo can at least do some damage and take at least 1 Surf and not die.

Maybe if they give Heracross a baby evo, Ash's Heracross will come back to mate with another Heracross in a filler saga and they have an egg?

Actually, Rhydon was a pretty powerful Pokémon, it's just that it had 2 obvious weaknesses that were easily exploitable.

Also, 40 (Rhydon's base speed) isn't almost as slow as 5 (Shuckle's base speed). I do not appriciate the gross exaggeration.

IMO, they only gave Rhydon an evolution to give the Rhydon line access to Solid Rock (Rhydon already had two possible abilites, and rather then retooling the entire ability system to have 3 possible abilities, they decided to give Rhydon an evolution that had this ability).

No. Just no.

They won't invent a new Pokémon just for the sake of having an old cast member on the tema again.

I knew that, just giving some hope. I would like the Johto starters to get their time to shine, if there's an E4 Filler Saga or BF Filler Saga, I hope 1 or all the starters come back. Noctowl is Ash's weakest bird and his birds usually don't get anything, so I expect nothing for it.

I have high hopes that Ash will actually use his older Pokemon in the Sinnoh League tournement. Although I loved Houen I found that the 6 on 6 matches of the Houen League were ruined by the fact that Ash always had the the exact same team unlike in the Johto League where his team was different each time.

Did Ash ever have a Donphan? I know he had its pre-evolved form but I haven't seen past episode 40 of Advanced Generations.

I wouldn't believe they would do well against the E4 at all, Ash would have to use his strongest Pokemon.

I just think it was really bad timing for them. Bulbasaur, Squirtle and Charizard were the originals that most people liked, and when they left to be replaced by new Pokemon that weren't as developed personality wise, it didn't go over as well as it could have.

Something I don't understand is that despite Johto going on for so long, we really didn't get to see Ash use his Pokemon all that much. There's are tons of Johto fillers where Ash only uses Pikachu and we never see him let out his Pokemon from their Pokeballs.

Its almost like the writers never even gave us a chance to like them. Not only were Totodile/Noctowl not captured until like 30-40 episodes into Johto, but by the time we got to the end of Johto all the focus was on Phanpy and Ash's Kanto Pokemon. The starters and Noctowl were being casted aside and everyone noticed it. To this day it still strikes me as odd that its the only team that didn't even get a goodbye when Ash left them at Oak's. It honestly felt like the writers were telling us to forget they ever happened.
