I always loved chaining by using the Pokeradar, one of the main reasons I bought my copy of SS was to chain some of the older generation pokemon for shinies, but to my dissappointment, the Pokeradar is non-existant. For me, the radar opened up new avenues for training pokemon, I could get the nature (or color) I wanted in a short amount of time. This should have been a staple of the series from then on, it's baffling why the Pokeradar was excluded from SS/HG. Bring back the Pokeradar for Generation 5, we'll need it for all those potential shinies.

What really irks me though, is the way they shafted both the game corners. I only have one game choice, and it's a game where the only way to win is not to play. A new minigame for Game Corner is always good, but not when it replaces the alternative. I loved the slot machines, this card flip game is a piece of suck.

i agree, i was very surprised when i didn't see anything about a pokeradar in HG/SS. especially since this could easily have been a cool new pokegear feature or something. i think they might just have taken it away because they didn't know that their system could be abused to find shinies so easily (which sucks, because there are so many pokemon whose shiny forms i love and always wanted to find).

as for the game corner, i'm fine with the current game, but at least one or two others would have been nice. even if they don't have anything to do with gambling, it would be nice to have some diversity, considering the current game is, like you said, practically impossible. i mean, i looked up a strategy for it and still can't get past level 3, and hardly even level 2.

I was under the impression that was an intended side-effect of the Pokeradar, your rival at one point even says you can find shinies with it. If it's not intended to work that way, they could easily take off the percentage lowering when using the hardware. If it can't find shinies, it should still be there so I can find my Quirky or Adamants more easily.

I know that Game Corners usually lose thier luster after you've gotten everything you wanted from thier reward tables, but how can you possibly be fine with the card flipping? You're hard-pressed to get passed level 2, the game simply requires you to be too lucky. This is a step in the wrong direction from slot machines. This could have been bypassed if they once again offered the ability to buy your points, but naw.

That Porygon and those TMs seem so far away now.

about the pokeradar, very true. i guess they wouldn't have programmed it to work so well if they didn't want it to. and you're also right that they could tone it down if that was the issue. in that case, i honestly have no idea why they took it away, and completely agree we should bring it back.

and i know what i said seems a bit contradictory, but that's kind of how i feel. what i mean is that i like the game itself, but the fact that you get so little coins for so much effort is what makes it so annoying. you're absolutely right, i was hoping to get a dratini early in the game only to find out that 2,100 coins would require hours of testing my luck (especially when i had already given up after 10 minutes of getting barely any coins).

in all, i'm hoping for a return of the pokeradar (or at least a pokewalker that has a pokeradar that incorporates shinies) and some more games for the game corner that are actually somewhat doable.

Exactly!

I can't even begin to comprehend why they took the slots out. I went into the game corner going "Awww yeah. I'm totally walking out with Porygons." Then I enter and find one guy sitting at one big table. It all went downhill from there.:conangry:

It's not so much the game is bad, it's that you have no alternative, and no way to avoid playing it if you want your tokens.

pokeradar yes!!

Even though i can RNG breed shinies nothing has been more satisfying then chaining my own i really hope they bring it back :) i wanted to chain hoot hoot and sentret in the first grass of HG/SS i was dissappointed :(

Same here, I loved golden Noctowl.

If not for the shiny quality, they should bring it back to all future titles to make it easy to get the Nature you want.

I also was wondering, what does RNG mean? I might already know it, but I'm not good with abbreviations.

Random Number Generator :) you need to download this thing and enter cirtain info and it will give you a random number you use that follow the directions and if you do it all correct you are garenteed a shiny egg :)

They may have just removed the pokeradar in HG/SS because cirtain area's aka national park which has a 100% garuntee for hoot hoot at night

The slots are no real loss, and hardly Game Freak's fault anyway. Pokémon is always going to be universal, so if there are some EU hoops to jump through, so be it. I never actually used the slots anyway, ever, and nor did anyone else I knew. For me the Game Corner was just a very long winded way of buying prizes

Am I really the only one not surprised that the Pokeradar wasn't included in the remakes? Also, the slots wasn't a loss. At all. Voltrob Flip is much more fun, and easy to win with a tiny bit of simple math, and some logic.

Since apparently some people have trouble getting past level 2, which it's beyond me how you would even need to make a 50/50 choice before level 5, here are some tips to help you out. Really, some math and a bit of logic and this game is easy.

EU Legislation meant it was illegal to put gambling references into children's games, which is why when Platinum came to Europe, the slot machines were made unusable. It seems that outside of Japan,GameFreak decided to make this change for all of outside-Japan, possibly to make it seem fairer to Europe, and because Gambling references in a kid game would still be a bit "Eh, what?" in America.

Besides, Voltorb Flip is a lot of fun - only thing that irks me is not being able to buy coins.

Also, considering HGSS's grass, I doubt the PokéRadar would have worked (rather than individual patches, HGSS's grass looks more natural)

But there is a Pokeradar - in the Pokewalker.

I think what they really need to bring back is the gears on the bikes. I don't even use the bike now

I fully support the change from slots to Voltorb Flip. Sure, they probably should have left the old slots in there, but the new game is really easy to get to at least level 4-5. I got a Dratini the first time I went in the building, and it didn't take me hours and hours. I actually think the games is pretty fun, compared to "press A, *slots spin* press A, etc.

Voltorb flip is great. Although that's not why I'm posting in this thread.

I'd like to see the radar back too, but possibly with some sort of adaptation for use on water and in caves. It always annoyed me that I wasn't able to chain for some of my favourites because of where they appeared: no shiny Mawile for me.

I've never been able to chain. Even with lots and lots of repels, I've never gotten a shiny using the Pokeradar. Hell, even getting the Pokeradar-exclusive pokies is a chore for me.

That having been said, Voltorb Flip level 2 is ****ing (I mean fucking) easy. Level 6 is where I get tripped up.

Bring back the pokeradar! Many people used it in dppt, and people even got free legit shinies because of that!
Also, i liked the slots better, ONLY because you could buy coins.

Pokérader should stay away. At least when it's a way to get otherwise unobtainable pokémon. The safari zone and pokéwalker also weren't that big of a succes imo. I think swarms were though.

Also I think the slots should come back, at least in the 2 main games and in the r/s remakes (were also the roulette should come back). Maybe they can find a loophole to keep it in (change the coins into prize tickets, or something like that. That way you wouldn't be gambling for money and then it wouldn't be illegal).

Eh, I'm indifferent on the radar. I suppose there is no harm in keeping it.

But bring back the pokeathlon and vs seeker for sure.

Dude, FUCK swarms. I'm sick of dittos. At least with the radar and safari zone you have at least SOME control over what appears. Swarms are entirely up to the game, and there's nothing in the program to prevent it from giving you the same swarm day after day after day.

Never liked the PokeRadar, or Swarms, Safari Zone is OK though.

The Voltorb flip is better since the slots require too much luck IMO.
