Okay, so in the new intro, we see a lot of cool stuff, like Hikari's awesome rival and Parasects and what have you. But as usual, we have images of the three main characters with their Pokémon. Please compare them.

Quick test of your skills, guys - which of these three has the most empty room to draw in new monsters? (If you say Ash or Hikari, good try, but no.)

So I doubt he'll only be getting a Hikozaru - assuming he does get a Hikozaru - since otherwise Bonsly'd be up front taking up space in the image rather than sitting in the background in Brock's nice warm arms. I think besides the likely Hikozaru, we can expect Brock to capture at least one or two more Pokémon in the span of this opening.

Which raises the question... who's it gonna be? What new Shinou monster seems Brock-ish?

The first thing that jumps to mind would be one of the fossil Pokémon, probably the Tatetops because they tend to give him more defensive Pokémon than aggressive ones... but I know I'm fixated on him getting a fossil. (Admit it, it would be awesome and so true to the games.)

But other than that... nothing from the new monsters seems particularly Brock-ish to me. What do you guys think? What would you be least surprised to see appear added to that image?

Dorapion! Buwahah.

.. Maybe he'll get that headbutting-looking dinosaur thing. Or that bug Pokemon with leaves. XDD Something tough.. We don't watn his team full of baby Pokemon now, do we? @_@;;

Wow, Hikari doesn't have room for anything except maybe a Flying-type (Garmeil or Beequeen?) in the background.

She could have one go in front, like the position Pikachu's in right now.

Maybe a Fuwante.

I could see Brock getting a Hippopotasu. It's an interesting pokemon, and the chances of it changing into Kabarudon are slim to none if he got it.

Well, since he wants to be a breeder, that would make the most sense, really.

Oh well, here's to Brock getting Tatetops or Zugaidosu.

He didn't bring Marshtomp. ;_; I was hoping we'd have at least one Hoenn Pokemon in the Shinou Saga. I guess that's Team Rocket's job for now.

Looks like Forretress is done for too.

...... or they could have just given up on Brock and decided to not give him any new Pokemon after realising they went about 200 episodes doing absolutely nothing with him 99% of the time.

I still hope Brock don't get any other Pokémon and rather get rid off of anime, 'cause seriously, he's annoyng even more then Max for me:boom:

Poor Brock, his screen looks so empty XD

He'll capture some Shinou pokémon, without a doubt, which ones I don't know, but I personally don't think he'll get a Hikozaru, Shinji has filled that one and we were only guessing he got Hikozaru due to it's potition on the official site's picture.
I can personally see him with that bug that has all the leaves around it myself XD

I wonder if he'll continue his trend of getting water types.... If so I could see him with a Buoysel.

Assuming her Grand Festival works the same as May's, she only needs a team of 4 by the end of Shinou. She'll probably only have these two Pokemon for as long as this opening goes on for, and then she'll make her last two captures during mid/late Shinou.

I assume its the same for Ash, they'll leave him with this team until they change the opening in mid-Shinou or something.

Brock will definitely get something, still wondering if he gets the Fire starter at all though. Maybe they decided that Shinji will give it enough spotlight and they don't need Brock to showcase it too?

In any case, who knows. The writers barely let Brock's Pokemon do anything anyway, (most of the time they're only out for the picnic scenes) so it doesn't matter as much. Maybe he'll get the Nosepass evo, lol.

Stick another moustache themed pokemon on Brock why don't ya.
They gave him a Lombre, need I say more?
It'd at least give Brock something memorable.

Which makes me wonder, what kind of trainer are the writters trying to make out of Brock?
The pokemon he recieves never seem what one would expect to be in a breeders repertoire.
Plus, ever since he's left the Pewter Gym he's had pretty much everything except more rock types
(excluding his Bonsly). These irregular choices in pokemon are really disolving his character imo.
Whatever he picks up, hopefully it's not another water type, that would be the last type he needs more of.

Yeah teh writters have made it kinda hard to determine what Brocks gonna get now. I don't really want to see him with another water either, nor do I really care to see him get another bagworm even though it's possible he could get one of the ones with a steel or ground since they seem to give him a bit of those. That Dootakun thing may be cool and I think would be kinda like Foretress being like a steel thing with no real limbs. Then the question comes of wether or not they'd give him a psychic. It would be cool though for him to get a dino or the hippo thing.

I dislike Bonsly. Please let him get more INTERESTING pokemon for once. The most interesting ones he's ever had were Vulpix, Mudkip, and Lotad.

If Brock gets a Dainose, I'll scream.
And I'll cheer. :D
I think the sea slug would fit Brock. Maybe.
But, yeah, Tatetops is the most likely, for the time being.
Shinji should have Zugaidosu, DUDE.

Hopefully, his pokemon won't be useless crap like they were in Johto/Hoenn and maybe call them out sometime besides once every 7 episodes.

That goes double for Hikozaru. I don't wanna see him rot. :(

I want Brock to do more than cook and clean. :(

They don't focus on Brock because they don't have to. He's always been there to just be the sidekick who looks after the group and keeps them on the right track.

The only reason he looks worse in AG and D/P than he did back in Kanto/Orange/Johto is because we have female heroines now. Back then Misty didn't do anything either, so Brock not doing anything didn't seem like a big deal.

But now that we have May and Hikari and the entire Contest arc, the writers have to devote such a huge chunk of the show to them because they have Pokemon that actually have to amount to something, have to go through character development, and have a story arc that goes on as long as Ash's does. Not to mention Drew/Harley and Hikari's female rival get lots of spotlight too.

Even though we're back down to a trio again, I still don't think that'll help Brock much. It's not like Max ever really overshadowed him anyway. Hikari being treated as a real co-star and getting equal spotlight with Ash also shows where the writers priorities are. The fact that they constantly have Brock dump all his good Pokemon at the Gym also proves that they don't care about developing his old Pokemon or his character in the slightest.

The D/P focus is clearly on Ash and Hikari, they're the heroes of the saga who actually have story arcs, Brock is just along to round out the group, nothing more.

Can I ask why you're constantly trying to stereotype the characters, Scott? My lord, a little inquisition on a character's future doesn't call for short essays on the matter. Brock is Brock; he'll get pokemon, regardless of his "status" alongside Ash and whatever-chick-is-on-team, because it doesn't take focus to get something the writers wish him to have. This isn't the thread to go into a "OMG, the story's on Ash and Hikari; Brock FAILS" spiel.

Honestly. *shakes her head*

Brock needs a Minomutchi/Minomadam (ground or steel type). =O Just 'cuz. Gender obviousness, whut.
