Recently, my DS Lite Hinge cracked. Now I can't adjust the hight of the screen. Luckily, I found out that Nintendo has recognized the problem and is fixing DS Lites with broken hinges for free. I'm going to send my DS Lite to them, so I'm not going to be playing it for a while. Anyone else here ever have the same problem?

Anyone I've ever met with a DS OR a DS Lite seems to be having that problem.
(Except for the new one I got last week after mine snapped in half, but there's still time for that.)
I think it's really great that now the problem is being fixed!

I've never had this problem before. o_o; I've had f'd up touchscreens, R buttons that won't respond and other shit like that, but I've never had a common problem with the Lite.. a broken hinge.

(lol Figures that I get all of the problems that block me from playing some games instead of just a broken hinge. x_x)

Breaking hinges are new to me too. =/

My old DS has had the numb shoulder problem, but my new DS Lite is and has always been working fine (all two months I've had it, lol). How old is your Lite, about?

I haven't had a hinge break, but occasionally my R button doesn't work.

It sucks if you're playing Mario Kart DS and it sucks even more if you're on Hell Rainbow Road.

I just got a used one, but it's working fine with the hinge.

Only a problem on the White, Light Blue and Navy Blue DS lites.

Luckily, I haven't had any hinge problems with mine, but my R button only works when it wants to. BTW I got my Lite when D&P came out, so its kinda old >.> My GBA SP was the same way.

I have heard a lot of people breaking the hinges on there DS lites though...

EDIT:
Only a problem on the White, Light Blue and Navy Blue DS lites.

Really? Maybe that's why. Since mine is black.

I've had my DS Lite since December 2006. Never had a problem with it.

I have never had that problem but some of the buttons have stopped working on my DS Lite so I have to push them really hard to get them to work. Recently it has got so bad that it's unusable so I'm now using my DS Classic.
PS My DS Lite is black.

Bought my DS on April 22, 2007. Shoulder buttons stopped working around December 2007. Hinges are fine.

I never had much problems with my DS Lite and I have had it just under a year. Got mine in around November 2007. Only real problem was when I thought my DS touchscreen was broken, just uncallibrated.

My sisters DS Lite hinge broke though.

I've heard about the hinge problem, but I can't say I've ever been victim to it.

The shoulder buttons giving out on the other hand, well now there's something I can relate to. I thought for sure my right trigger had given out completely but luckily its function came back some random day after pressing it really, really hard. Since then, its only worked when it wants to. I guess that's what happens when you compromise durability for tighter design.

It seems that a lot of these problems people are having are with the batches that came out post-2006 christmas season (which was after a huge rush on the units). Maybe these were rush jobs and weren't made as well.

The worst problem I ever had was with my original GBA.... the start button's rubber had kinda broken off partially, so I only had a little bit of the button left... and I think either the left or right had stopped working as well. That was no big problem because the SP had come out by the time that my old GBA was acting up, so I was able to upgrade. :)

I still use the fatty DS and it still works and looks perfectly.

Only problem with my DS Lite is that the top screen JUST PLAIN DOESN'T WORK.
DX

Oh yeah, and my GBA's down button no longer works. I think I wore it out. :(

The only problem I had with my GBA was the screen breaking, from my own pure negligence of leaving it in my backpack face-down and uncushioned. In retrospect, I really deserved that.

As for my DS Lite, it's working just fine (though I haven't had it long), but I'm already nervous about the buttons wearing out in the future. It feels weird to press harder on a Lite than I would on a fat DS before the buttons respond. =/

I broke a GBA screen when I threw it across the room. Damn Bullet Bills wouldn't let me jump...
