Bronzong is KILLING me!

I don't see myself getting past Lucian's Bronzong very easily. The defenses are too tough! What's the most effective way to fight a Bronzong?
 
And if I have absolutely no fire Pokemon anywhere NEAR useable levels?
 
Yah, I find Bronzong (and Bronzor) hard to beat as well. I think I ended up using my Staraptor's Close Combat - it's only of neutral effectiveness, yes, but it's a pretty powerful move. Either that, or my Luxray's Discharge. I don't rightly recall. =)

Bronzong's two weaknesses are Ground and Fire, but the trouble is, it's also got one of two abilities - Levitate, which makes ground moves miss, and Heatproof, which reduces the damage from fire. You can either figure out which ability he has and use the other type to attack, or just use a powerful neutral-effectiveness move, like Water, Electric, Dark, Fighting, Bug or Ghost.
 
I'll tell you what I did, but I normally wouldn't advise it. It's risky. I just put out my Lucario, and used Metal Sound, then pray he doesn't use EQ, then I used Aura Sphere, a couple of times IIRC, and fainted him. Probably don't do that though, might not work considering he has Calm Mind as well. No fire? Yeah Water then, but be careful of his EQ if your thinking of Empoleon.
 
Ah, that's probably why I stuck with Staraptor - no Earthquake. =)

Empoleon has a couple of critical weaknesses - namely, though most of his attacks are strong against fire and ground, his Steel type negates the resistance to fire he gets from his Water type, and gives him a weakness against ground. I kinda wish I'd realised that before I chose him as my starter. Chimchar might have been a better choice, even if it made things harder in the Rock gym...
 
I gave Honcrow Night Shade.

And after letting it exhaust it's PP on Spiritomb, I did 50 damage each time guranteed.

Lol. If you wanna be lazy you can just get yourself a pokemon that can be a FEAR pokemon - hold focus sash, use endeavor, and then use quick attack on the next turn. That'll take care of old bronzong... but make sure you do that AFTER you've whittled him down the first time. The E4 and champion are notorious for using full restores. :p But they'll only use one per pokemon, lol.

God, I always hated that about them. >_>

Anyways, have you ever considered just spamming your Dialga/Palkia's signature move? I seem to recall that being what I did against those Pokemon that I just couldn't take down any other way.
 
Assuming you have a Dialga or Palkia and you didn't do something stupid like faint them. As I did. =(

<_< Fainting a Pokemon isn't the stupid part. It's going in with out any Revives that's stupid.
 
And not only the E4 and the Champion, the Gym Leaders also use HP restoring items...

But I suppose that you haven't beaten the League yet...So...

First, try altering its status. Don't try Poison, as Steel Pokémon are inmune. Try sleeping, paralyzing or burning it. Confusing it also would be a good idea.

Bronzong can have Levitate or Heatproof...I'm sure that it has Levitate, so your Fire Moves will work at 100%.

And don't forget your Revives, Hyper Potions and Full Heals. Waste almost all your money in them.

Lucian's Bronzong has Levitate, so Fire-type's your best bet here. I'd go with a physical Fire-type attack here, too, so his Sp. Defense boosts from Calm Mind are naught. :p If you have Garchomp on your team, you can do Fire Fang, or if you have Medicham, you can do Fire Punch. But besides that, unless you picked Chimchar as your starter, you're hard pressed for things that learn physical Fire-type moves. :<

To tell you the truth, I didn't even know Lucian's Bronzong had Earthquake. o_O I think I Sucker Punched it a few times with my Toxicroak, when I first faced it. All I know is that I did end up defeating it. d:

Nowadays, I send out my Salamence (who has Dragon Claw/Aerial Ace/Refresh/Dragon Dance) and Dance a few times, then claw my way through all of Lucian's pogeys. Not even Bronzong can stand some good ol' Salamence. :O
 
Gengar's Shadow ball and Charizard's fire blast seemed to take care of him. In fact, those were the only Pokemon I used in the battle.
